Trees are pixelated (stipple alpha?)

I got a screenshot of what I mean, whenever a tree is at a certain distance, it immediately changes the branches and leaves, so it looks all pixelated. I remember back in the haydey of playing HL1 with the software renderer. You could select an option for 'stipple alpha' which would change how lights were cast.

I was wondering if I can counter this problem manually until there is some sort of fix.

You need to turn on supersampling in your graphics card options so it anti-ailases transparent textures.
