Trilogy = 3 ---- Half Life 2 + EP1 + EP2 + EP3 = 4

Right?

So stop calling it a trilogy.
 
half life two = hl2 + ep1 + ep2 + ep3, for sure. I guess most people are referring to the trilogy of episodes, dunno.
 
It's an episodic trilogy. 3 episodes - trilogy.

Point was the number of episodes AND half life 2 being a 'trilogy'
 
half life 2 is not part of the half life episodes but it's generally agreed that all the eps together make up the unofficial half life 3.

3) ep 1 + ep 2 + ep3

it has been said several times that the three episodes make up what is half-life 3
 
any news on when ep3 coems out, or around when?

and is anyone willing to donate half life 1 to me? :D
 
there is no hl3 people. this has been discussed many times.

it is hl2 episodes, there is no part of hl3 at all in it. the episodes start where hl2 left off. unlike hl1 to hl2 where it starts in whole different environment and you slowly learn what has happened between the 2.
 
agreed. Episode three finishes Half life 2.
But Half-life 3 might be all episodic too..

I dont remember ever hearing 'The HL2 trilogy' only the 'HL2 Episodic Trilogy', which doesnt include HL2
 
im glad we have sorted out that the episodes combined do not make hl3, since they are called HL2: Ep 1, HL2: Ep 2, HALF LIFE 2:Ep 3.

Cant wait for HL3.. i wonder if that will be the last one, assuming there IS one...because is Ep 3 is last then it would be weird to end the entire franchise on a short episodic installment that is merely a branch off from the second game.
 
ep3 is supposedly the end of hl2 but that doesn't mean its the end of the franchise.
 
Ep3 is the end of Gordon's saga, not the end of HL.

People honestly, Valve has already confirmed that the Episodes make up HL3. So stop saying too bad it isn't HL3 or I can't wait for HL3 because you are already in the middle of it.

No they don't! They say it's equivalent to HL3, not that it is HL3. If it were HL3, they would've bloody called it that!

No they have not.

If they were Half-Life 3, it would show in the name. The episodes are a continuation of HL2.

Exactly. Gabe said it was like HL3 production, in that togethor the episodes make a full game. But he never said they were HL3. The episodes bridge the gap between 2 and 3.

No one refers to HL2 + Episodes as a trilogy. If anyone says a trilogy, they're reffering to the episodic sequels that came after Half-Life 2. It's not that confusing. You only made it confusing by claiming people were doing that.

As far as I can see, everyone is saying the same thing, not discussing it.

Yeah, well I AM Gearbox Software, and I say that Adrian Shepherd is going to be added into all previously released Half-Life games as a small Albanian village bent on world domination.

Yes, thats the way I look at it.

First game = Half-Life

Second game = Half-Life 2

Third game = Ep. 1, 2 & 3
 
I've always seen the Episodes as an expansion. Not so much a sequel, and not an add-on...
Simply like a continuation of the story.

I used to look at the Episodes in that way to until I found out in a video interview with Valve's Jess Cliffe where he implies that the Episodes put togther are meant to function as the thrid installment of the series.

So it is basicly is a trillogy.

It is a third installment. And it is a trilogy. But it's not a totally separate game like HL1 is from HL2.
 
i really don't care whether or not it's a trilogy, it's a great game no matter how many episodes they make.
