Maynard, who has already seen the movie, recently went to a local movie theater in Minesota and asked if it would be OK to see the film while wearing his Tron costume (a luminescent catsuit that leaves nothing about his figure to the imagination). According to Time, "[theater management] refused to let him watch TRON: Legacy while wearing his light-up suit. Maynard says he believes the staff thought it would be too 'distracting.'"
Well yea, it is distracting. The more important question is why didn't Disney invite him to the premiere or some form of special first showing? http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/106417-Tron-Guy-Banned-From-Seeing-Tron-Legacy-in-Costume

Oh and I saw the film finally in IMAX today. Don't listen to the critics who say it's all show and no story. Tron never had a story as rich as "Inception" but was always just a fun film to watch and this one is no different.

Turn off the lights on his suit and there'd be no problem. Movie theaters are dark for a reason.

So you're saying we shouldn't listen to critics who say things that you agree with?

yeah they could have just asked him to turn the suit off while the movie was playing....stupid theater peoples

This, though not quite this.

If he shown up in the outfits normal, conditioned citizens must wear, there would be no objection. Though I suppose it depends on if the theatre has any kind of official dress-code that he was simply breaking, in which case, he should not be considered "Above the Code" compared to "normal" people just 'cause he's got a bunch of youtube hits or some shit.

Jay Maynard, known to many across the Web as "The Tron Guy", achieved fame (and a lot of nerdy goodwill) on the internet when he documented the creation of his rather elaborate light-up Tron costume. Folks embraced this Tron fan, both for his dedication to what has become a cult movie as well as his costume-crafting abilities.
This isn't what happened at all.

I'm pretty sure folks "embraced" how hilariously snug tight his outfit was. He's as famous for the outfit as he is for his balls.

Ha-ah! Double meaning.

Did you really think that post was that bad?

Uhhh no. Hl2.net was not this way back when we all played BF2 together and looking for information on the next Half-Life game. This site has been degrading ever since then looking for the "glory days".

Okay, look, I've obviously misread HL2.net before. I have made what I thought was an innocent joke and felt guilty when I learned it wasn't taken that way. I sometimes assume that my sense of humor comes across on the internet as clearly in real life, and been proven very wrong. I acknowledge that, and I've tried to improve. But you guys find this post rude and offensive?
So you're saying we shouldn't listen to critics who say things that you agree with?
Seriously?

Hool: Hey, ignore those critics who say Tron has a crappy story. It does, but that's not the point of Tron!
Me: Heh, so you don't think we should listen to critics who say Tron has a crappy story, which you yourself said was true.
Everyone: OUT OF LINE. Why can't you just not be a jerk?

I mean, I'm honestly trying to see how it's not just a light hearted observation of a contradiction in how he wrote his post. I'm trying to see how anyone could be upset, even bothered, by it, and I'm drawing a ****ing blank! I just don't even know.

it was pretty much just me being an asshole to you, so no worries :)

this thread is more interesting with drama btw

If you think that's bad I don't know how you tolerate most of HL2.net or the internet.

Yeah, seriously. I say more offensive things than this with practically every post I make, but not many ever get upset over it, and when they do, my charm wins them back again. Maybe you're just missing the charm, Sheepo.

Also, lol @ BF2 days being the glory days. There were more assholes back than in any other time of the site's history. I think you're just out of the loop Hool. You're getting disillusioned. The ARMA2 days are upon us, and these will be the "glory days" in a couple years. You should get the game and be a part of the new era.

Thank you for giving me an excuse to post in this thread.

I agree wholeheartedly!

I don't understand a couple of things in this thread. Firstly, I don't understand why Sheepo even cares what people actually think, and second of all - Hool's post was kind of dumb. And he was called out on it. Daddy, let's go home, he can't hurt us anymore?

you dont understand anything samon, because you are a robot

Do you not remember the days, Eres, when we used to be the bestest of best friends?

I do not like this implication that robots cannot understand anything.

i am sorry my old robot friend, i suppose you are correct

I wish I had a robot friend. Not necessarily a jerkbot like Samon, but a coolbot would be nice.

Well, I'm a little out of the loop here, but from what I gathered Sheepo got banned for some dumb joke an indefinite time ago, so I would assume he's just, you know, trying to avoid getting banned over something silly. But he was clearly out of line and we need to burn his heretic ass before he casts his rude witchcraft on us.

So I've kind of gotten a reputation for being an asshole in the past, though I usually don't mean anything by what I say and expect people to pick up on my humor and not be bothered by it. Last time I felt bad and angst-ed my way out of here by requesting a ban. I try to avoid this stuff now, because I genuinely feel bad about that shit that went down before. So I'm naturally going to be upset when I get called out for it again when I now definitively try to avoid that sort of thing.

Samon translation: I am a weak and sympathetic mortal.

And I'm still annoyed by this stupid ARMA obsession. Can't you guys just once be crazy about a game I like?

Have either of you played a game of OA with ACE mod with us?

That's a rhetorical question, implying that you have no idea what you're missing.

I love how you always imply that not playing a game with a bunch of guys you never met and/or never will meet and hardly even know is really missing out on some major/fun thing in life.

It's so difficult for me to fully explain how stupid this sentence is.

First of all, what does it matter that we'll never meet in real life? The only reason we won't is because we live too far away. If all of my internet friends happened to live in my city, I'd definitely be hanging out with them in real life. That's such an arbitrary argument. And why the **** do I even need to 'know' them to have fun playing with them?

Second, who the **** said anything about "some major/fun thing in life"? We're talking about video games here, on an internet forum. Arma happens to be a fun game that many of us are playing together. Those who are playing other video games are in fact missing out on this fun. Nobody said anything about a once in a lifetime opportunity that you will regret forever if you don't take part.

I don't care if you insult Arma. That isn't what he was doing.

Whatever bro, Frosted knows everything about all of our friendships. Hes right, we don't know anything about each other, we're total strangers. He knows this because he is omnipresent, and therefore qualified to make his judgement despite having never even spoken to any one of us directly.

What happened to the good old days when Hl2.net would sit down every weekend to a viewing of Tron and not critique the story? You guys have fallen a long way.

I can see the appeal for a good co-op experience with friends, but from what I understand the number of participants needed, accompanied with the amount of time necessary to invest, make the game completely unfeasible. While I think that HL2.net is capable of organizing smaller events, I think the odds of getting any focused and large community behind the game seems improbable. Just trying to get a L4D tournament together here ended disastrously. As it is, I think L4D(2) is the perfect co-op game for me. Short, well structured game chunks with a small necessary amount of co-op commitment.

I don't care if you insult Arma.

Arma is a retarded game for stupid losers.
