Trouble logging into steam

Whenever I start up my computer, I am usually greeted by my steam games list popping up, but lately steam hasn't been starting up with my computer, and it takes 10 minutes for it to log on normally. I don't think at all that a hijacking is to blame, because I have a very long, and odd, and confusing password, but any ideas how I can speed the process up would be nice.

Oh, and I have tried reinstalling steam, but I get this "1722" error, that says my installation drivers are bad, or something to the effect. It's really starting to get on my nerves.
