Trouble with Internet, or i got hacked

So im playing in a Cs game and theres a cheater in the room. We all start bitching at him and a few minutes later i get disconnected, go to desktop and see that a message keeps popping up saying my ethernet cable is unplugged. However, it keeps popping up and going away, once a second. It will say that, then say acquiring network address, then go back to saying ethernet cable is unplugged. I tried unplugging everything and still no luck. So then I tried plugging directly into the modem.....connects, but doesnt let me load a webpage. Also, my pc keeps freezing when I try to get into network connections, try starting a game or other stuff. So I really think someone hacked me or something because nothing has changed. Right now im using a different computer in the house so I know the internet is working. So I guess my question is if anyone has had this happen to them and what to do to fix the problem, I dont feel like paying someone.

I'd go into safemode and do a couple of virus scans, etc. Just check around your network connections to make sure.

There are 4 possible problems
The routers ****ed
The ethernet cable your using is ****ed (Unlikley)
You ethernet cards ****ed
Something is ****ing with your connection in software

The easiest first step is to plug another machine into the same port on the same router with the same ethernet lead. If it works, then the top two are not the problem. Next, either take the ethernet card out and try it in another machine, or take one out of another machine and try it in yours. The first options the better one, but whichever you can do will do.

If none of the above finds the problem, then you have either got a duff driver, or a virus in your machine. Safe mode virus scan as dekstar suggested, then, failing that, try reinstalling the ethernet drivers. Beyond that, reinstalling windows may be the way to go.

I know thats a pain to do all that, but thats PC trouble shooting for you . Good luck.

Dont know why, but it just started working again.....who knows...
