COCAINE!

Bolivia is launching a coca-containing soft drink (it doesn't actually have cocaine in it, just coca extracts, which Coca-Cola doesn't have) called Coca Colla (note the second L). Apparently the blatant cash in on Coke's name has the full backing of the president. Link is first article I came across after Googling (I heard this on the radio originally).

I don't know much about coca plants and cocaine but if it isn't dangerous I see no danger other than the obvious tie-in to the Coca-Cola company they're using to get publicity.

Lawsuit anyone?
That depends on what the law is in Bolivia with regards trademark and if Coke own any trademark there themselves. Also how the system actually works. The president is behind it after all.

That said I have no clue of the Bolivian law in any way, shape or form.

Hopefully FARC will put a stop to this.

Ha, they won't receive a lawsuit. You fools. It's in bolivia, it will be pronounced "coca coyya"

They should have used the same font/image for the bottle. It'd relate to coke way more.

"Son fix me a drink of Rum and Coca ya basterd"

And five ounces of coca leaf per gallon. 9mg of cocaine per glass.

There's coca extract in Red Bull Cola, although in minute quantities. I wish it was in more beverages

i know with 100% certainty that this drink sucks...it has to

I don't think that qualifies as the original coke :hmph:

lolz

yeah it does, soft drink hitler.

it was originally called Pemberton's French Wine Coca, and then when prohibition passed, the wine was dropped and a new formula was developed which became what we now know as Coca-Cola

When the **** are they going to make Chocolate Coca Cola?

When the **** are they going to make Chocolate Coca Cola?

black people can drink coke whenever they want you ****ing racist.

but ya, that doesn't seem like anything i'd ever want to try.

I think coca leaves is legal in bolivia and selling it to produce this may temp more people to stop selling it to narcos

also the state sued unsusscefully the coca-cola company for using "coca" cuz as said,is a important plant of the region

so probably thats why the colla name

Hopefully FARC will put a stop to this.

Get your politics straight. FARC is in Colombia. And the Bolivian president is a left winger, and has been accused of being a FARC supporter at times.

Sorry, I thought the original article was talking about columbia, I didn't read it properly.

Mogi, you're ALRIGHT in my book :)

Man, this drink is going to cause some controversy, that's for sure...
