Ok, I have an issue for you guys to help me tackle.

I want to play CS, but it has to be on Windows ME. I am currently running Windows XP and because of the mouse movement issue I will only accept ME.

It used to be somewhat easy because I used to simply set up two partitions before I formatted my HD using fdisk. But things are different now and I have 2 raptors in RAID 0 and I need to create a new partition on it so I can install Windows ME and get my CS fix. I guess if I HAVE to I will reformat and do things the hard way, but I just want to make sure I don't have to reformat if I don't have to.

Is there a way to create a new partition without formatting my hard drive? That is really what I need to know.

Also: 3 chocolate chip cookies and milk to anyone who can help.

I let my computer boot from the O/S cd, and I just create a new partition and install.

Everything just loads up and I get the option to reformat, or create partition..
It says like "Push "C" to create a new partition."

If I did that it would format the drive though.

Does anyone know of any trial versions of like Partition Magic or anything that will allow me to create a new partition on the fly?

Are you talking about having random jerky movements when playing CS?

Try finding the executiable for CS and right click and select properties. One of the tabs should have the name "Compatability," select that tab. You then want to check the box saying "Run this program in compatability mode for:". After you check that box, directly underneath it, select Windows 98/ME. Click Apply. That should solve your problem.

The other issue is the mouse acceleration.
Acceleration options in the control pannel don't really turn it off.
You can find registery patches (be careful) that will disable that or a 'how to' to do it yourself.

IMO going to Windows ME is a desperate move. lol

Nope, the framerates and everything is fine under XP, it's just the mouse acceleration.

Yeah I've tried all of the fixes and methods, but none bring back the Windows 98/ME feel. I guess I'll just reformat tonight. Yeah it is pretty desperate... havn't played CS in almost a year, going to see if it's still infiltrated by retards. Thanks for tryin anyways

Ok well I tried installing ME but it seems that every time I try installing the Catalyst drivers (ones on CD and newest ones from ati.com) and none seem to work with Windows ME so I got even more desperate and got a new mouse hoping it fixes the problem. Went to Best Buy and picked up an MX 510, seems pretty cool so far, but I'll see if it has the good ol Win ME feel as some people say...

Add that to your launch options in CS, or you could look around for the windows xp mouse acceleration fix.

Did you try my solution? I am willing to bet that it works.

Nope, that was the first thing I tried, thanks anyways though.

That was the second thing I tried after looking into the issue and seeing that popping up everywhere, but it only changes the problem instead of solving it unfortunately. This MX510 doesn't seem to fix the "issue" but oh well, I just hope that CS:Source and HL2 aren't affected by it :hmph: :)
