I heard a track on radio one, and am trying to find out the name. The trouble is, it was part of a "trailer", so they didn't give the name. Plus, as there are no lyrics, or at least none in the segment they played, I can only try to describe it in text.

Basically, it was a dance type track which had a "whoam whoam whoam" that would speed up and slow down. The "whoam" was distinctive, the focus of the track as it were. The only other way I can think of to describe the "whoam" was that it sounded almost metalic, like something spinning almost.

For what its worth, it made me think of hypno-disc from robot wars.

I appreciate this is not a lot to go on, but if you guys can suggest the names of tracks that it brings to mind, I can check them out and see if its them.

the solution

good advise for you mate...when u hear a track on the radio or anywhere and u wanna find out its name and artist......ring 2580 on ur mobile and a voice says hold ur mobile up so it can pick up the sound....then it will cut u off and text u the artist and name of track...its brill and has worked for me when i hear something i like.

Cheers Gui!

Trouble is, i've only got a company mobile, so I'm not allowed to do things like this, plus it needs to be about 30 seconds long to use this, which the snippet wasn't.

thats a shame, thought i had it covered then...i no how irritatin it is to want a song and u just cant find out what it is :flame:

the only other thing i can suggest is finding out what that trailer was and then searching on limewire, or what ever download prog, for that trailer... ive done it that way once before...im not 100% sure if it will find it tho....worth a try i think

Azzido Da Bass - Doom's Night? :dozey:

Gui! - Again, cheers, good advice. Unfortunatly it was a trailer for a radio 1 show, so there was no name, and I doubt it would have been on limewire anyway.

Devvo - Bingo, barman, give this man a pint on me. One for Gui! as well please. Cheers guys :D

Cheers for trying though Reaktor4, pint for you and all :)

For future reference, if you ring the radio station they will normally be able to tell you.

Can I get a pint for making a half-assed sugestion, too?

:D

Seriously, call the radio station. NPR plays a good variety of music between segments, too short to get a bead on the song, but entertaining nonetheless. I called them and they told me straight up what it was (Falling Pianos by Tuatara). NPR now has a website with a list of all the tracks they play, but you should still call the station.

Reginald - Good point, never thought about that. Pint for you :)

Q_onfused - Tell you what, make a half assed suggestion. If someone comes up with the other half, I'll give you a pint to share :)

I'm not taking that from a country who still dosen't know how to make real beer. No pint for you. ;)

DreadLord1337 - No mooching, I am not a free beer machine. Well ok I am, but your to cheeky to get one :P

What's with all the pints? We're not all alcoholics are we? heh :D

 No problem. I often call up radio stations, especially as quite a few persist in not announcing song names.
