I recall playing it on my Windows 95 or 98 as a kid.

It was a first person 3D game where you would pilot a small spaceship like robot into a series of... space station rooms?
Flying the robot was complicated as I recall, and a bit of a pain, I am fairly certain you had to solve puzzles while shooting other flying robots.
Most levels usually had some sort of boss.

I remember sometimes having to fly through small metal tunnels in the levels, and I am pretty sure if you collided with the walls to much you would damage yourself and explode.

Lastly, I think the game name started with a "D"...

Possibly "Terminal Velocity", but more likely to be Descent.

Descent, Descent II, Descent III, or Forsaken.

Ahh, Descent, yeah, that's it alright. Thanks.

Wasn't that the 1st space ship game to ever work in total 3D. All i remember of it was everyone always getting stuck in a corner not knowing which way up they were.

There's homebrew that lets you play Descent on the DS of all things. Almost seems like a random choice, even if the game is a forgotten gem (like someone thought they wanted to make a PC > DS conversion of something, and went with whatever would give them the snappiest project name).

Ah, I love Descent.... but hate that it took 10 years for me to find out that the Save function was on one of the F keys (it wasn't on the menu screen).

I work with a guy who worked on Descent.

I had so many great memories of Decent, then about two years ago I found a CD lying around the house. Damn that game was far shorter than I had remembered.
