Trying to rip songs off dvd

ok, ive got a dvd which i want to record some songs off of it into an mp3 format ( or something of the type ). my question is, how would i go about doing this? i have a dvd rom on my computer so i assume all i need is a program that allows me to record sound. Does anyone have anyidea of how to do this? thanks

If you got a soundblaster audigy you can use the creative recorder, change the record from to "what you hear", Then just play the dvd and your done.

oh, well i have some really old creative card, really old, so i dont think ill be able to do that. Know any other ways?
