Tuesday = massive site overload and shutdown

On tuesday..the release day of Half-life 2 (YES!!!) um.... oh ya, the forums here will be completely swamped and the servers will be on fire and the internet cables will be melting and...well you get the idea. I can't wait to see all the activity on this site on tuesday. It's going to be amazing and someone must make a thread where people can post, "I HAVE HALF-LIFE 2!!!11!!1!!1" so we don't get mods having a heart attack deleting all the threads about "I HAVE HALF-LIFE 2!!!11!!!".

The excitement is really starting to build and I hope it never goes away. The journey is almost over folks, (at least the wait) and a new journey is about to begin. Christmas will come early this year and it will be on tuesday. If you people feel the same way..feel free to rant or anything. This is going to be sooooo awesome!! :thumbs: :thumbs:

I'm strangely depressed. I know i'm excited about the game, but i'm not hyped and estatic. I know that will ALL change come activation hour thought. I usually get super pumped up as I have a game in my hands.

Actually I think the busiest time will be the hour before release. That will be nuts. Expect the Steam servers to crash several times, just like what happened with CS:S. That was a nightmare, the servers crashed and had all sorts of database errors several times while I was trying to purchase my Silver package.

Valve have to be able to predict the high points in trafic to their servers and act acordingly. Just allowing a certain amount of connections at any one time would keep the servers from crashing, although the actual authentication process shouldn't be very demanding system-wise.
