TV show "LOST" and the g-man

Anyone seen this show on ABC "Lost"? I just watched a second episode, and for sure at least one of the writers on the show is a half-life fan.

They are stranded on an island where mysterious things happen, and randomly the main guy looks and sees a suited guy standing there watching from far in the distance. He is gone a second later. A similar glimpse of this g-man look-a-like occurs later in the episode, too, but we find out nothing about him. The protagonist's fuitless efforts to chase him down remind me of my reaction the first time I spotted the g-man.

I think the writers on Lost are definitely taking a page out of Valve's book on how to make a mystery. Anyone else watched this?

note: not accusing them of ripping of valve or anything, as people often do on this forum ;)

He's a hallucination of Jack's father.

oh.

Yeah but that had to have reminded you of the g-man...it was exactly like HL.

LOST is one of the best shows on TV right now. And I did think of the G-man reference when I first saw the episode.

The series reminds me more of Far Cry in that it takes place on a tropical island with monsters and such.

Definately some gaming references in there if you look hard enough.

The polar bear was dumb though... like how the hell can it make the sound of an RPG and knock over 20 trees at the same time?

That's what's intriguing about it. There's so many conspiracies and theories in the first 11 episodes that the show stays fresh and entertaining.

But yeah they did go overboard in the pilot. Like the engine running at full speed despite being detatched from the cockpit, and the cockpit itself lying many km away from the wreckage. :p
