Dear Board Members,

Usually I'm pretty good with my hardware situations, however I don't know too much on the whole 'TV Tuner Cards' and 'Cooling Systems', but I was wondering if anyone could help me out.

I'm actually thinking about getting a TV Tuner Card, as I do have an Asus Radeon 9800 xt, which happens to come with the ATI Rage Theater Chip build on. I'd like to watch TV on my computer, however, I don't know what card I should get for that and I was wondering HOW to hook up the TV Tuner Card before I bought one so that I could double check everything before I have a go and spend a bit of money.

Any help with how you connect one in general would be nice...

Then, I think that my system's been overheating a bit and I'm truthfully not too sure about what part(s) is overheating. I've been getting artifacts during games, especially DOOM 3, and the artifacts just get worse as I play so I'm almost 90% sure that it's a heating problem... SO...

Well, first of all, I have my heatsync fan (for the processor), two fans built onto my video card, two case fans, and one extra fan next to my video card sucking the hot air and blowing it out of the case. That makes six fans in my computer and it STILL overheats... Any ideas/help would be great reguarding that too...

Thanks for reading, if you did, heh... and thanks even more if you took the time to try to help me out.

Later.

Sounds like it's your graphics card that is overheating. I would loose the fan right under it, since the fans on the graphics card suck air towards themselfs iirc.

And as for the tv tuner card.. I have a Hauppage wintv nova usb. It's an external digital terrestrial tv box. Works pretty good :)

Oddly enough, I've set up my fan above the card so that any heat radiating up, as heat does rise, is pulled out of the computer... However, I just slightly underclocked my card from stock settings and it's not particling anymore... only 3 mhz too...

Then, about the TV Tuner, you have a USB one, however I'm wondering more about how the wiring is set up on one of those, do I need the cable to directly connect to it, where do the S-Video and other cords go, ect?

Thanks a lot for the help.

wait, your video card has the rage chip on it? does it have a coax-in or s-video in?

yeah, it does...

and now my hard drive is failing and I'm pissed... 250gb hard drive WESTERN DIGITAL and it's making the computer run slow because it can't read fast enough... the reading head is screwed up I think... God I hope I can get it fixed before HL2's release... damn it I'm pissed...
