I didn't want to bother throwing two different threads up, especially when the answers are probably rather simple.

1. I try to dl windows media player 10, and it says its not compatible with my version of windows (which is xp with sp2). WtF?

2. Is it possible to take tapes that you've recorded with a video camera, and put the video on those onto DVD's?

If it has USB or Firewire you can just plug it into your PC and use an editing program to transfer the files over. If your camcorder is analog then you need a video capture device (about 100$ for something decent). It will probably save it as an AVI file. Encode it to MPG or MPEG2 then make your DVD and import the file. Burn.

Ask for help in the forums here if you need to. Look around at the guides too.

1. Dunno.
2. Yes. You could capture the video straight from the camera using FireWire to connect it to your comp, or if you only had it on VHS tapes you could hook up the VCR to your camera to your comp. Over the summer I had been converting my family's old VHS taped to DVDs, using the 2nd method. I don't know what kind of camera you need to be able to do this, so check your manual to see if it's possible. Obviously it needs to be compatible with FireWire. I used Adobe Premiere Pro to capture/edit and Adobe Encore DVD to build the DVDs.

Bah. Beat me. :(

1. Do NOT use wmp (see sig for details)
