TX versus WA

Ok so right now I really want to move out of MA and find a state that supports my career. Now the problem is that I'm a welder and it's not as widely available like say a nurse. I have come up with 2 states after searching through careerbuilder.com. Well California has lots of welding jobs yet it's expensive to live there.

So I narrowed it to either Washington or Texas. The main difference is that Texas has tons of jobs while Washington does not. Also the cost of living in Washington can be high. Where do you think I should go?

I personally have never stepped foot in the US of A. My post was merely a continuation of the previous posts poking fun of the "Texas is filled with rednecks" stereotype.

The only good thing about Texas is that it has a low cost of living and doesn't seem to have been impacted as heavily yet as much of the rest of the country.
