Uber Steam problems

I'm on 512k, and recently moved my steam folder over to a new computer (drag n drop) and now: HL2 doesn't work.. and I ping at least 300 in all online games :|

Don't you have to reload Steam, then copy the files over? Doesn't the Steam install copy files to other folders, like WINNT folder?
I would download Steam again - from Steam site, install it using you user name/password. THEN copy your Vavle/Steam folder to your Program Files folder....

Of all people, I thought u might be one to at least have half a brain cell. Steampowered has a support article telling you *exactly* what to do!

Yes, I fixed it now.

However, it hasn't solved my 'Ping 300 in Steam games' problem

My internet is fine normally - downloads are fast

Maybe you have the rates set waaaay to high, if your on a lan based net connection it has a tendency to set your rates at T1 connection.

Check in the settings.

On a LAN based connection, but it's set up in Steam correctly (also my rates around done in config )

Verify your Half-Life 2 and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch cache files are ok by clicking the links. May take about 10 minutes but it's always worth it as this one is a bit of a mystery.

I've messed around with my firewall and everything.. NOTHING works :|
