Ugh. Doritos X-13D

So Dorritos is doing this stupid game where they have people buy their chips (crisps) and evaluate the taste and my brother's friends brought over a party sized bag, and stupid me didn't check the ingredients list before I started chowing down.. they tasted decent and I didn't recognize that it was beef burger flavor. I don't eat beef (or cow products) for a variety of reasons..

So low and behold here I am sitting with a belly full of chips flavored with beef tallow among other things. It's a horrible feeling.

It's more for the health aspects of things that I avoid beef and other meats, America has yet to pass legislation banning the use of feed render and the like. I'd just rather not risk it.

Also my parents have kind of restricted beef for reasons I couldn't really explain, it's just one of those foods we never bought or enjoyed as a family, so I had no idea what I was tasting really.
 
Its not that bad...I mean, you enjoyed the chips before you knew what was in them, and even then, its just a flavor. No biggie the way I see it.

Yeah I suppose, I just hate the idea of consuming cow products after I've avoided them for years.

I saw one of those bags of mystery doritos in the shop... and I was thinking about buying some. After a couple minutes of staring blankly at the bag, i reached over and grabbed some cooler ranch doritos. It appears i made a good choice, since meat flavored potatoes = weird.
 
its ok, its not like you found out what they were then ate them.

Exactly. I doubt they make the chips then sprinkle beef on them. It's all fake flavouring just like in soft drinks.

Who in their right mind would think they actually sprinkled beef on those chips? Everybody knows it's artificial flavoring!
 
Um I'm pretty damn certain they wouldn't have used actual meat in their chips, buddy. They would expire in a matter of hours if their was real meat in the ingredients.
 
As most people have already said. The majority of beef flavoured crisps are actually just yeast extract, often from brewers yeast.

Wouldn't get bent outta shape, doesn't actually taste like beef anyway :)

No the chips actually contain beef tallow, that's my concern. Though It's really not that big a deal to me now that I woke up this next morning for some reason O_o.

As far as making a useless thread, yeah I'm pretty sure I did.. kind of created it out of panic :p, one of those helplife.net posts.
