Ok, the last boss. From what I understand, you are supposed to destroy the three crystal things, then get launched up onto his head and start unloading into his brain, one problem; after I destroy the crystals, his skull doesn't open, thus I can't shoot his brain. Whats goin on!?

Anywho, I believe you need to unload some more ammo into Nihilanth (the creatures name) before his head opens. Then use the jump pad and go to town.

You can jump in his head? I always tried to kill him from afar using missiles... and did twice. (There's a small rock on one of the leadges... use it for cover. Might have been a recovery pool too...)

Yes you sould. Although if you had trouble with Nihilanth (a lot fo people did) the Gene Worm is really going to piss you off.

Yes you can jump into it's head and crowbar it. Here's a tip. You can shoot the teleport balls he fires at you and destroy them. Plus if you kill the garg at the then every time he teleports you, you're in an armoury and you're free to collect the pickups int he pool.

BTW, whenever I jump into his head, he shoots the teleporter balls or the other white ones at me, so I either end up in some remote room or just die up there inside his head...

I think destroying the crystals alone doesn't make his head open. You have to shoot him a bit as well.

At least that's what I did and his head opened eventually.

So I'm just supposed to go flying over his head and get as many shots in as I can before going over. Then catch another ride up over his head and do it again?

I just blasted the sh*t out of him with the hive gun (because it has infinite ammo) and destroyed the crystals with my crossbow.
The nihilanth was too easy imho, I just hid behind a rock and when he fired I ducked behind it and occasionally took out some alien slaves.

That must of taken awhile...I just tried it. I had about 20 of those flying alien bastards and like 4 of the ones that shoot the electric bolts at you. >_<

what i did was destroy the crystals (i still dont know what that does) then jump up to the healing pool. There is a rock right next to it, that if you position yourself right, can shelid you from ALL the things he fires, AND you can still shoot at him. i used all my revolver ammo and most of the SMG ammo, and his head finally opened. then i used a guided rocket, and pulled it down when it was JUST above his head, so it blew him up.

And remember, quicksave is your best freind!

I shot the crystels with my rocket launcher from behind a bit of rock, used the hornet gun to kill the slaves that come, and shot him with the gauss until he opened, then I jumped into his head with the aid of a Jump pad, and crowbarred the thingy in there

Pretty poor boss overall ;(

I finished HL on difficult. Nihilanth was a peice of cake.
Shoot out the crystals with the magnum (3 shots each), then give Nihilanth all you've got (you don't have to shoot it in the head, just fire anywhere at it). Use the tranquilizer gun as it does lotsa damage, the RPG rocket launcher and whatever kickass weapons you got ín your inventory. :thumbs:

Good good. I said you CAN jump into it's head. I didn't say you should...

And by the way, the first time you get teleported kill everything, then you'll get teleported to a new place (with floating balls). If you kill everything there then you'll be teleported to a pool area with a Garg, an Icky and supplies everywhere.

I just started playing HL a few days ago....i havent played the Sp HL game since shortly after it came out.... i forgot how cool it is even with the dated gfx its so much better than any other fps its not funny....
