The recent Florida decision to allow Bully's sale appeared to have driven the final nail in the coffin for protestors hoping to stop the latest Rockstar Games release from hitting the market, yet overseas, The Sun Online reports that UK retailer Currys is currently refusing to stock the game.

"We're a family-friendly retailer. We don't think this game is appropriate for our stores and have decided not to stock it," a Currys representative said. In the UK, Rockstar has renamed Bully to Canis Canem Edit, apparently in an attempt to avoid the controversy the US name has brought.

idiots, there's next to no violence in the game ..no one dies and there's no blood ...but it's rockstar!! it MUST feature excessive violence against teh ho's, acts of sodomy against cute little animals and baby eating for it to be a rockstar game

..and some people dismissed jack thompson as a charlatan ..which he is ..however people are listening ..the fact that rockstar had to preview the game in a court of law to deem it's "suitableness" says a heck of a lot about the power of these special interest groups that scream bloody murder every time a video game is released that they dont agree with .."WONT SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN???" ...stfu, /me vows to punch first soccor mom me sees

Funny thing is that if this game had been made by anybody but Rockstar (except perhaps id), it wouldn't have caught anywhere near this much flak.

How much do you want to bet that this dickhead's family-friendly shop carries the likes of Quake? But that's really beside the point. It's not like he's going to be offensive to anybody by carrying more mature games (and Bully doesn't really qualify) if he just doesn't ****ing sell them to minors..

Florida accepts it, yet someplace in the UK does not want?!

The world is truly insane.

Currys don't really do computer games anyho

they're prob still trying to flog Quake 2 for £40.

Nope. The absolutely ball grabbingly hilarious thing is that they haven't taken similar action with any other Rockstar game, despite those games being well reknowned, far more violent, and worthy of a higher age rating. AFAIK, Canis Canem Edit, is a BBFC rated 15 title whereas GTA is an 18.

But at least the Daily Mail readers will be able to walk into PC World without fear of being corrupted, hey? Or will it be the Sun readers, considering the source of 1up's news? I haven't looked inside the Sun in quite a while (what's happening in Deidre's photo casebook these days?), but I'm sure they have some kind of "ban this filth" campaign. Because they're a top quality newspaper. I mean tabloid. Oh wait, that's a contradiction.

Dixons/Curry's/PC World are the losers in the end of course. They've just openly publicised a game that they're not going to be selling. A game from a studio that thrives on controversy and sells shitloads of games out of it.

I saw the commercial for Bully today, and it looked like shit, seriously, but censorship sucks. I find it sad that I might play it if you could indeed play as a bully and give some wedgies or beat people up. :p

I don't shop at Curry's. Shit shop.

Very true. My mate went into Dixons (Same company owns Curry's, Dixons and PC World) to get a router so while he did that, I looked at the games. Rough prices off the top of my head??

Sims 2 = £44.99
Quake 4 = £34.99

So as you imagine, after seeing those two I pissed my sides thinking how many people buy these at this price when you can walk another 200 yards to GameStation and get them both for about the same price as one or probably a lot less. Takes the piss, hope this all backfires on them.

As for parents screaming about they dont want thier kids exposed to games like this, few suggestions mothers with no functioning brain cells :-

A)Monitor what your kids play
B)Dont buy it for them for f*cking christmas! (This happens ALL the time)
C)If you spent more time checking what your kids were doing as opposed to sat there talking shit to your friends while painting your toenails, you would know what sort of games they play and could take prevention methods against it.

Games arent to blame for any type of violence, I have played violent games since DooM and not once have I been tempted to rip someones head off. This is just another typical media scapegoat that can draw everyones attention form the real problems this country faces (Immigration, crime etc).

Seriously pay attention to your kids and get them off the glue and you will notice a change in them. Only if people would pay attention to the real problems that face this country and not jump on the media bandwagon.

If you use an excuse, get a decent one.

QFTMFT.

Yeah, it's recieved very high ratings so far..
IGN gave it 8.9/10, Games Radar 9/10 and 1Up.com 10.0(Oo)!
It's out next friday in Europe I think..?

Who buys games from Currys? All their shops are on Commercial estates near decent PC shops anyway.

Curry's is for washing machines.

And that's it.

Exactly.

Too bad any argument like this falls on retarded/deaf ears.

Curry's doesn't really sell computer games anyway... there's like maybe one shelf for them.

And they're overpriced.

BTW PC World, Dixons and Currys are part of the same company, and they are all overpriced.

Didn't this happen with Manhunt and it ended up going to the top of the charts cause it was banned and it was Currys and Dixons who refused again. But who cares they are way overpriced and should stick to washing machines.PC World sells PS2 games i never knew that.

Is it just me, or does the IGN review make this game sound really dull and boring?

You don't even bully anyone. You get bullied yourself.

People are just ignorant.

I think the funniest part of all of this is that the game is rated TEEN. It's not even Mature, it's TEEN. And yet people are still recoiling to petty controversy. Good ****ing game. I think the game looks pretty meh anyways.

I swear Politicians like to make themselves looks like complete dicks :)
