it seems that people with lower dx card gets better performance even with crap system, whats goin on here?

Whats going on... its not true, thats whats 'going on'..

Because lower DX's don't have all the nice things that DX9 has, so they don't load as much.

well, my comp is 2.27ghz 512mb ram pentium 4 radeon 9800pro, and settings are 1124x with everytyhing on low, no aa no af, and i updated every driver except my card, because updating my driver doesnt let me start cmop, i tried reinstalling windows, i tried formatting, and i get average of low 30s whats with that?

actually its a half truth... I would imagine lower DX cards like the GF4 ti4600 i own cant use the extra DX9 features in the game and as such dont render them. This means that DX9 cards of the same level as my GF4ti4600 have more to render per frame... but as most DX9 cards are way faster than my crappy card it doesnt really matter. :E

I have a 9800 Pro and I run DirectX 9. I don't understand how I am only able to get 40-75, but I mean it drops when I am walking and when I stop it goes up. In fights it drops to 30. I OCed the card to 429/369. Any suggestions on how to raise my FPS in game?

Yea ive read it.. Doesnt prove ur point. Running Cs in lower settings will give u more fps thats obvious... its the setttings u chose to run at as well as ur hardware which dictates the fps..For example i have 2 machines..

3.0ghz p4
1024 pc3200
9800 pro 128 mb
70-120fps

1.6ghz
1024 (crappy ram)
gf440mx 64mb
10-30 fps

If i was to lower all the setting im sure that would increase, but it would increase alot more for my first machine..

Find out about what ur creating threads about, before u post them.

dude, i tried all kinds of settings, and i cant get it to get past 60s wtf

I see some people with the same card as me, almost the same exact system specs as me, and they are able to run at around 100 FPS on CS:S.

System Specs:
P4 2.66ghz
512mb Ram
120 GB HD
9800 PRO for people just skimming the thread.

You mean you never got anything above 60 frames? well it could simply be your refresh rate, there's a bug with XP and sometimes depending on your config/drivers it blocks full-screen apps at 60hz. There are different ways to fix it, override through DX or the Nvidia panel if you have an Nvidia card, or by using third party software such as RefreshLock (can be found at 3dguru.com).

Most people with 9800pro's are fine it seems, the fact u havent updated ur vid card drivers probably got a lot to do with ur low fps, im currently running 4.8Cat.
