Underpowered weapons?

Don't you have the feeling that the weapons in BF2 are a bit underpowered? Many times, when I shoot someone even from a close distance I don't kill him, even though I shoot like 10 bullets at him. I know there's recoil, but I'm a CS:S gamer, so I know how to cope with it (short bursts etc.).

Oh and once I shot a guy 3 times with a sniper (we both standing still) from 10 meters and he managed to run away. Luckily he didn't know were I was shooting from so I approached him and finished him off with the pistol. Strange though...
 
Play the Assault or Support class, higher ROF, damage, and better armor rating.
 
Ï have never felt that way, been killed countless times when I was at full health just taking a quick look from over the wall.
 
I like to just be medic. I can nail good shots but it's more fun to heal people. That, and taunt the enemy dead (run up to them and zap them. It doesn't work but I'm sure it pisses them off :D)
 
I had a few of those moments as support.
I'd be 1ft away from the guy, and I'd be spraying him with the MG...and he ends up killing me.
 
I think all the weapons are just fine, very balanced (Like the asssult has the best gun, while medics is not overly powerfull, the medics not about dmg)

Only weapon I dislike is sniper, I do think its abit unpowered, considering how hard it is to find a good spot without being killed by planes or other snipers, the weapon should pack abit more punch.
 
If they were too powerful, you'd have people getting kills from miles away every 2 seconds. Imagine a vulcan cannon on a US helicopter firing from its spawn randomly at the map getting kills because stray bullets just hit people in the legs etc. Thats why they're weak.

The sniper is TOO weak, but thats to prevent people becoming AWP whores, sitting 1km away popping people at their spawn.
 
They just need atad bit more power to them, only just abit.. As right now there honestly useless, since it takes a good few shots to kill someone, and by that time they have run for cover, or know where you are and killed you.

Well, it should never take more than 3 shots, if it does, they should fix that.. maybe make it fire a bit faster?
 
Keep in mind these are the basic kits. Full game includes unlockable weapons. And it takes two shots max to kill a person with a marine sniper rifle. If it takes anymore, the gun's accuracy is working against you or your aim is slightly off.

I've repeatd countless times the weapons are fine as they are. In CS and America's Army you would get killed without even realizing what's going on, and it would lead to very frustrating times. Enemy-territory, one of the best games I've ever played, has extremely weak weapons. Just learn how to focus your fire and trace people.

they're good. perfect balance as far as im concerned. Two medium range bursts to the head and upper torso take down soldiers well.

The speeds fine, if anything its too fast, its like a mashine gun if you fire quickly unscoped.

I think the sniper should be like the CS scout, 2 shot kill, 1 shot if you hit the head. I'm trying to work out if theirs bullet drop in the game as my sniping experiance I'm sure the guy had no idea I was firing away....

That is absurd, the weapons have a limited range, even in real life. The problem with the sniper rifle, in my expert opinion, is the lack of any configurable zoom. I am trying to pick people off from quite far away, and it is next to impossible as the sniper rifle doesn't zoom enough. So a rifle that is supposed to be able to get a head shot from 1 mile, you're lucky if you can hit a building from 500metres.

The Dragonov is a semi-automatic rifle which can fire quite rapidly, once every 1.5 seconds or so. The American rifle on the other hand is only bolt action. But the main problem is that you're shooting at people right infront of you and they're scratching their head figuring out where the gunshots and coming from before running off, leaving you with an empty gun.
 
I think if the sniper rifle had bullet drop and bullet travel then it could be more powerful, as you'd have to range your shots. Also someone moving would be uber hard at range unless they are heading towards you.

I would definatly like that, that way the wepons would be easy to learn the beaic but difficult but very satisfying to master.
 
TIP:


When sniping and your target is lieing down at range, aim JUST above them. Only a fraction. But it makes all the difference :)

I think the hitboxes for prone are slightly fugged atm...




And I think that sniping is .. Ok.. ish..

They should slow down the draganov slightly and make it more powerfull. And make the M24 more powerfull too.. but add something like scope drift.

I can sit on top of the hotel on the far right flag and pick off people for ages though.... :)
 
Okay, I played today and it was better. Maybe that time it was lag or something.

BTW: Is it possible to change contrast and brightness? I haven't found out where can I change them.
