Undertoss or roll with grenades?

I was wondering can you undertoss or roll grenades with the alt fire in cs:s, like in HL2?

That would be pretty cool! :D

I still didn't get the chance to go play cs:s, so thanks in advance for answering this anyone.
 
Im afraid not, at least not in CS:S
stuff does roll, and even nades sometimes roll, but its more physics than actually rolling a nade :)
 
I was wondering about this a little too and I think it would be cool if you could roll nades in CS:S.

I'm gonna mail cliffe about this - It can become a very cool feature - I mean think about it - your a CT and a T is hiding behind cover of physically stimulated barrels, sniping others and doesn't notice you - and you roll a nade throw a gap within his cover and run for it = ownage! :D

I thought cans and bottles, and little objects were client side only?!
 
Grenades and things thrown by other players still knock them around when they go off, they might react to your clients view of player models moving over them, too.

Or certain larger cans might not be client side only...

Who knows? All I know is that it happens quite a bit :)
 
I liked when you shot the bomb-carrying T, the bomb flew off him and bounced on the floor (realistically, not like a super bouncy ball).
 
big ol gunfight was happening in the tunnel, about 3 Ts trying to make it in, and about 6 CTs holding them back...

well one by one the Ts and CTs are picking eachother off until theres about 3 of us on each side.. low on ammo after an intense gunfight we decide to rush the Ts... almost through the exit of the tunnel when we see stuff flying at us, we all retreat instincitively firing as we do.

the Ts turn the corner and mow us down as we reload after wasting ammo on what was thrown.....

they picked up the weapons of their dead comrades and chucked them at us... it sounds funny.... but it actually worked tactically.. its things like that.. little things that really add to the overall immersion.
 
LMAO crusader, thats classic, i can see myself doing that, oh man im crying. I can see some great css games ahead. Oh God no a heinz baked bean can!!!! *fire in the hole* ...lol
 
I've never tried shooting the grenades...it might work... :D They are physical objects.
 
i see youve updated your 'facts and opinions' section sub, saying that infact you can shoot them if theyre quick enough? sounds like fun :D

someone chucks a nade at you, and in mid-air you shoot it back at them LOL.

no you cant I tried, they are simulated like the C4 is simulated. they have a specific purpous and changing their ability to be shot would change gameplay. (or something)

anyway C4 can be thrown (dropped while running and jumping) to teamates etc (pretty damn cool when you are pinned down) but it cannot be shot like other weapons (rifles pistols etc)

also grenades cannot be shot around while they are on the ground, and cannot be shot in the air. (Im pretty sure since I spent quite some time testing this)
 
cant edit my last post, but another cool little detail about CS:S is defusing and planting

when you plant the bomb you actually press the numbers that come on the LCD, once he finishes the sequence the numbers turn into ***** (asterisks) although the number is always the same, its still a nice added touch.

when you defuse the bomb the red **** turn white, and as the progress bar loads, the numbers tick and become locked.
(like he is hacking it for the combination) small things like that, really liven up the game... it kicks ass.

it was hearsay, just someone saying it could (because they thought logically they should be able to given the depth of the physics)
and I believe it would be totally do-able, but its just not in CS:S as I said probably a gameplay issue (thats why they didnt make c4 shootable either)
 
really if they made the nade shootable would you really try to shoot it when its flying at your face? i would still run like a little girl

no, but for instance:
in a large firefight someone might throw a flash grenade, stray fire from either side hits it in the air, your grenade (depending on which end's ballistics hit it) either is going to shoot far away from your intended target, or come right back home.

in either case pretty much rendering grenades useless... people would be complaining in no time. so I see why they have it as is.
 
well i wouldnt go quite as far as saying that - nades wouldnt exactly become 'useless' thats a bit extreme isnt it!
