Dear hl2.net this afternoon, while doing nothing, my computer monitor switched from green to orange(Standby) even though i was still doing something. I tried to get my com back but gave up and just held down the off button and let my computer rest, i too took a nap, when i got up, i turned my computer on and i get this message.

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Dsiable BIOS memory options such as caching or shawdowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer , press F8 to select advanced startup options, and then select safe mode.

Technical information:

***STOP: 0x000000ED (0x8A6A6C08, 0xc0000006, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

I have already tried to run on safemode but then the error appears again(In a blue screen of death as usual) I cant access my desktop. Help!

I am currently writing from a laptop.
Regards, Azner

Either the drive...the cable or the hard drive controller (on the motherboard).

Try connecting the drive within the same computer but to a different connection (like if you use IDE1 then use IDE2) and a different cable. Although most hard drive controllers are responsible for more than one drive connection (SATA1-4, SATA4-8 etc) so you probably won't be getting away from the 1st HDD controller if you just use the next one available.
You could try to connect it to another computer (hard drive enclosure ->USB) and get the stuff off the drive.
