Unreal 3.0 crap.

I thought you meant Unreal 3.0 engine was crap :D
The new monster looks awesome.

the graphics totally blow me away, but why the hell are they rotting our perception by showing it off now?!!

by the time we actually get our hands on it (same with HL2 and Doom3) the graphics are nice.. but old hat.

You know it looks great, but nothing OTT, I dont see the big fuss.

Edit, I take it back :O

Their work is looking solid. The next evolutionary step in visual quality I suppose. I'm not sold on that look working for real-world locations though. It's awesome for sci-fi locales like UT and Doom represent, but would that look be right for HL3?

Fwah... sah... ruhh. Excuse me while i go cry with happiness.

that doesnt impress me too much as ive seen the fileplanet video and its ****ing amazing. You havent seen anything till youve seen light refract out of a stain glass window onto a highly detailed monster. double yay!

That tech is absolutely out of this world. F*cking incredible.

sure the graphics are good, but whats gonna hapen when it comes out and no-one can play it because they all have average graphics cards?? :(

By the time this is released we'll all be expected to have radeon 10'800XT PRO

:p

yay! half-life 2 1600x1200 with 8x FSAA at 100 fps with 6x motionblur!

Its comes out in 2 years. Also it will have loads of games made with it. I dought very much all of them will have crap gamplay :p 2006 baby, i can't wait.

Oh... My... God...

Those screens look so much better than the other ones. Games in two years time are going to be insane.

There's still a bit of glossyness on the buildings though, if they toned it down a bit it would be perfect.

i pooped my pants when i saw the 161 MB tech video from fileplanet. Seriously, I smelled really bad.

Keep in mind that character might never show in a game... it's just a proof of concept for the new tech.

HERE is a quick non-fileplanet DL of the impressive vid if you have yet to see it.

Didn't they say that the graphics would run smoothy without neeeding a really good graphics card, because they do that thing where they make a hi poly mesh and a low poly mesh, and their program compares the differences and adds them to the low poly version as a normal map. Won't that mean you can run it on an average graphics card?

No (if you mean "average" by today's standards).

The GeForce 6800 Ultra was the first card that was able to do all of the features and keep a good enough framerate for the demonstration.

Who knows what the average will be after the next two generations of video cards?

No.

Normal maps are being used now. HL2 uses them to a certain extent and Doom 3 uses them extensivly. It's nothing new. And actually I read in an interview that they expect graphics cards to have about a gig of memory by the time Unreal 3 comes out.
