OK, so this morning i wake up, switch my monitor on and shake the mouse to deactivate the screen saver, but the screen saver doesn't deactivate, i could hit the windows key and move my mouse over the options but the saver kept running. eventually i went into task manager and ended it there.

THEN my backdrop disappears, except when i go to "right click on desktop>>properties" under themes it has my original backdrop in there, i try selecting it again from the list under the "desktop" tab but it doesn't do it. also going to the picture in explorer and selecting "set picture as backdrop" doesn't work. i have to open "StyleXP" and reset my backdrop in there before then selecting the picture i want in explorer.

this is understandably annoying, and it's done it randomly three times today, i have restarted and that doesn't seem to work.

any ideas people? got to love windows :upstare:

lol, allways the first reply "reformat", never necesary unless ur too stupid to leave the system files alone. Try removing any software that might conflict like GUI programs such as style xp. I would suggest downloading Tune Up Utilities and using 1-click-maintenance that should find any system errors, or registry errors and correct them...download trial here....

Also do the usual virus and spyware scans to find if anythin is messin with you, let us know how you get on.

always nice to find expert responses when i come back to the thread;)

tbh i don't think it's styleXP, the actual program hasn't run for months and i've had no problems before, also i'm not sure how it could cause the screensaver thing.

i have so many antispyware/virus things i really doubt it's a virus or spyware, just the night before NAV ran a scan and found nothing.

i'll try that tune up thing if just to give windows a boost, cheers:)

re-install or remove style xp, style xp is unstable program and causes crashes... trust me... I've got rid off system crashes after uninstalling style xp :)
