"up there" bug?

ok when I first started playing every person until after I got to the boat part of the game would constantly say "up there" over and over except for the doctor and the girl and the main people who had anything to say. I asked my friend who also has the game and he said that didn't happen on his so I was just wondering if its some bug Iam getting or or something.

also another problem I am having is if I am online I cant start half life 2. I have to login to steam then get off the internet then start halflife 2 or else it will just stick on the loading screen and freeze.
