update broke my offline mode

i decided to get the latest update top get quicker loading times. but now i cant play half-life 2 offline.. i have tried starting steam and half-life 2 online many times, restarting and every thing, but it still wont play offline. im on a 56k connection. did this happen to any one else and is there a way to fix it.

Yeah,that happened to me after the update before, i just waited and it sorted itself after a little while.
Give it 24 hours and then see.

I have been having this problem also 24hr+ (i'll restart steam a few times)

Same here, I allways need to conect to play HL2.

Hmm this whole wait 24hours things is kinda putting me off updating. People in my house are total whores with the phone line.
