I've gone a month on Vista 32-bit with no updates available, but the past few days, I've been getting spammed by them. I did the recommended security update, and that was fine. Next day I got the update for Vista Service Pack 1 and it claims to have successfully installed/updated. When I turned my PC on this morning, I got another update reminder. It was for Vista Service Pack 1 again. I figured maybe something went wrong and re-installed it, after the restart, another update reminder for none other then VISTA SERVICE PACK 1! How do I get this update to either be successful or recognize that the update occurred and don't need to do it again?

check to see if any others have it by using google

I'd just ignore it for the time being. don't update it

Why don't you go to Windows update by either doing it so in Vista or logging to Microsoft, see if that helps.

Good Luck.
