Is anyone elses HL:S taking 130 hours to patch or is it just me?? has anyone got into it yet?

Took about an hour for me with my DSL. It was at 77% or so when it started loading just from the HL2 preloads. It is still the same old fun game, looks a little dated though, even using the source engine. I'm not complaining, just stating a fact.
This game is a classic and I love the fact that they brought it to the next generation engine.

There are definate upgrades. All of the physics of HL2 are in HL:S, including rag dolls. You get all of the lighting effects, as well. Also, you get reflections, which you see in water and metal objects.
I'm waiting for some Modder to get in there and upgrade the models, and maybe make some more interesting geometry.

Yes it is, but they said all they'd do is make small changes. If you were expecting a full blown remake for Source, thats down to the mod makers, don't worry, there are bound to be lots of them cropping up.. How good they'll we, we'll have to wait and see.jOOblaR said:
I still wish Valve had done it themselves though, sell a new version of HL1 that has the quality of HL2, people will have paid for that, I'd have paid for that. Can you imagine how cool it would have looked.

my HL:S steam d/l experience
bought silver. took me bout 4 hours to 'pre-load' the game (from clicking on play games in 'My Games' list). Fine.
But why the heck does it now have to still get online with valve? Its doing it in the 'Loading...' screen , clicking on 'Options' in the menu, and now i click on 'Training' ..the progress bar displays 'Initializing game data' and its taking forever. My DSL modems blinking alright.
I alt-tab out and look at 'Properties' for HL:S under 'My Games'. "Amount acquired : 35%" .. this is up from 16%. And "disk usage" reads 7++ Mb.
Does this mean that after my 4 hr d/l, i still need to go thru more one-time (i hope) downloads as accessed by the game?? Can someone shed some light on this pls? Thx
