what else should i upgrade for hl2. i get a horrible fps in css (20-30 on very lowest settings). dell says that i can upgrade to 2.0 with same motherboard. so ya

please help

get more cpu and vid card in there, and a monkey too

monkey?

im not sure if my motherboard will support a better vid card, how could i find out?

also any suggestions for vid cards and cpus

i have like 350$ available for upgrading

get a 9800 pro, to see if you can use it open up your case and see if you have an agp slot

ok thank you

so u think i shouldnt upgrade motherboard or processor

so if i were to buy a new motherboard, it would not come with any memory????

also in the paper i saw a 3.2ghz pentium 4 with mother board. should i get that instead? its 200$

ya im not looking foward to spending 700$ with ur suggestion.

i just want to be able to play hl2 at a resonable fps not like superspeed x800 craziness so like im just thinking i would like to play hl2 on like medium settings with an fps of like 50

no. soz but thats how it works lol. you could find a deal that means you pay less for the RAM/memory when you buy the motherboard. but definitely get a 9800pro, as that mx400 is a reaaaaalllllly crap card if you want to be serious about gaming.

actually just get the RAM to 1gig and get a 9800pro if your motherboard has an AGP slot. also check in the bios to see if you can get 8xAGP. if not then i would get a motherboard that does have it (or check on the box of the motherboard for details of your existing one...or just call dell for information on it).

good luck mate :E

512 is the max i can put into it and i dont have that 8xAGP slot

actually my dad just ordered a ibm laptop with 512mg and 80 hd and pent 4 2.0ghz not sure what kinda graphics card. but would that be alright for hl2 on like medium-low settings

most likely, just ask him where he ordered it from and go check the specs on the website

thankyou thank you thanks you

maybe i should just update my processor to 2.0 and then get a 9800pro

would that give me an alright fps???

pleaseeeeeeeeeee

Half-Life 2 is processor and video card dependent, you do not need more RAM.

I recommend getting (much) faster processor, and a Radeon 9600XT.

You can get a 9600XT for about 150 USD

Find out what KIND of Pentium 4 you have (A, B, C, E) If you can find out what your FSB (Front Side Bus) speed is, that helps.

When you find out what core your P4 is, probably A or B, I reccomend getting a 2.6/2.8GHz processor, which is a big upgrade from your current processor.

You can get both of these for about 300-350 USD, and you will see a huge increase in games.

Good luck
