My current rig is in the sig.

Im thinking of going into Vista gaming so want to upgrade.

Was thinking of the following:

AMD Phenom 9850 Black Edition: http://scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=793622 @ ?119.81

Asus M3N-HT DELUXE: http://scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=787074 @ ?121.48

4GB Corsair Memory: http://scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=864779 @ 76.20

Total cost: ?317.49

Thats alot of money and Im thinking I dont need that much power. Im planning on getting an nVidia 260GTX eventually but will the rest of the system cope? Ive got a feeling that motherboard ive chosen has features im never gonna use, anyone recommend an alternative? Preferably ASUS as Ive never had problems with them.

Im also willing to turn to Intel but I have no idea whats the equivalent CPU. Do you guys think im buying gear that I will never use the potential for?

Both the CPU & Motherboard are good solid choices.

I read up a on a few reviews about the Asus M3N-HT DELUXE motherboard & for the most part, the reviews were very favorable. The mobo has ample room for upgrades such as faster CPU's &/or GPU's, all at a decent price. So good choice there.

The AMD Phenom 9850 Black Edition CPU is a good performer & should provide you with good performance. It's also powerful enough to keep a 260GTX well fed when you upgrade to one & it's not a bad overclocker, should you ever decide to do so.

The Corsair brand, is well known for making high quality & high performance RAM. However, if I was in your place, I would go with the 4GB of Dual Channel "Super Talent Twin DDR2 PC2-6400" instead. I have used this RAM in a clients PC & have used RAM by Super Talent before, all of which proved to be of sound dependability, offering excellent performance. http://scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=754628

This is of course just my own opinion.
