Upgrade time

Hi, first post here

I bought HL2 a while back but unfortunately haven't been able to play it to its full potential due to my crappy emachines system

Here are the specs

Celeron 2.2 ghz
Geforce4 MX 440SE
256 RAM
60GB HDD

Thankfully, I am about to upgrade this piece of junk! I am definitely bumping up to 512 RAM and after reading various reviews, am thinking of getting a Radeon 9600 XT card. I only have about £150 to spend.

Obviously, this would make a big improvement on my current setup but I was wondering if my processor would need upgrading too? How well would HL2 run after the upgrades?Does anyone suggest an altenative to my proposed new graphics card?

Your processor should be fine. I would recommend upgrading it to a Pentium 4 but that may require a new motherboard.

The 9600XT is a good card. You shouldn't have any problems with that.
