upgrades

Im getting new computer stuff for my birthday, and i only have $350 to spend, do you think these will be significent upgrades.

pentium 3 500mhz to a XP 2400+ (I'm getting a new mobo for it)
256 ram to 512
RIVA TNT2 to a Radeon 9600 pro 128

Someone suggested in a previous thread that the 2500+ XP is good value for money, so it might be better if you can afford a little more. The 9600 Pro from what I`ve heard is an excellent choice and what type of RAM are you getting? SDRAM is older and not as high performing as DDR and then theres always RDRAM now.....

Well, if you can squeeze it out, get the 2500+ Barton core. Also, the RAM you'd be getting would have to be DDR because that's the kind of RAM that the mobos support. If you can, i'd suggest getting a mobo with the nForce 2 chipset.

that will do fine. I second the 2500+ its a tiny bit more but a lot better.

its gonna be hard to pull it off with 350 though
