Upgrading my RAM ?

Hi Guys,

My system specs are :

2.5 Ghz Processor
ATI Radeon 9600se 128mb
256mb RAM


I only recently got the new gfx card as i had some spare cash, and it has served me well, but i have been told i got crappy RAM, so i was thinking of buying a chip of 512 to make 768, will this improve things like fps, loading times and smoothness of gameplay if you get what i mean ?

Yeah that should make a big difference. Might not improve the FPS a whole lot, however it will reduce loading times, improve overall smoothness, meaning less stuttering etc.

make sure the RAM speeds are compatible with each other and the motherboard.

Wahey, i just took the current chip of 256 to PCWORLD and asked if they could match this to a 512 chip and they went and got one for £53, got home, installed it and its great, my loading times on HL2 and other games have gone from 5 - 10 minutes to about 1 minute and also from medium and low gfx to all high and it runs great
