Urgent Questions About Networking

hello
what do i need to buy if i want to set up wired network for 2 computers. i have an adsl modem connected to one of my computer at the moment. I just ordered two pci network cards from ebay becuase i thought all i needed to do was to install a card to each computer and connect them with a network cable. am i right? if not please tell me what i need to do.

You need to configure the network, but if its Windows XP, you'll likely be fine.

If you have XP, there should be a tutorial on it.

You just need to connect the two computers with a cross cable (not straight!). Then run WindowsXP network wizard and it'll setup everyting for you.

Or bridge the connections and leave the one connected to the modem on 24/7.
