The FBI is investigating the hanging death of a U.S. Census worker near a Kentucky cemetery. A law enforcement official says the word "fed" was scrawled on his chest.

The body of Bill Sparkman, a 51-year-old Census field worker and occasional teacher, was found Sept. 12 in the Daniel Boone National Forest in rural southeast Kentucky.

While I would love this to be connected to Beck, I think it's too early to tell. But if it IS shown to have been influenced by Beck and his kind, I hope its enough to shut these hate mongers up just enough for them to realize that their actions have consequences, that their words do carry weight, especially to the unhinged that listen to them.

I wasnt implying it was directly tied to beck but that beck and people like him have stirred up the masses with their insane misinformed rhetoric

I doubt it. in their minds they're fighting the good fight. they're completely delusional so rationality probably wont work. unforetunately the death of an innocent would have to go much higher up the chain of command for it to take any sort of real and long lasting effect on the crazies ..probably to obama himself

On second thought, I have to agree with you. Any one remember George Tiller? For years O'Reilly had been targeting the man, calling him "Tiller the Baby Killer" among other things. Then some nut job went out and shot him in his own church. Even with that, O'Reilly hasn't backed down, so why would Beck, Limbaugh, or any other conservative extremist?
 
The reason why they don't shut up is because they have the right to criticize who they like. Neither have said "I want someone to kill this guy." so they haven't done anything illegal. The man who shot that doctor and the guy who killed the senses worker, if he was murdered, acted on their own and are solely responsible for their actions.

Personal responsibility people. You can't just blame the figure heads.

Um, yeah, but these pundits are going far beyond "criticizing". They can't stand democrats, especially Obama. They are pandering to the nuts of their party. When Rush says that Obama has done more damage to America than al-Qaeda, and wants him to fail... that is irresponsible. And when Beck says that Obama has a "deep seeded hatred for white people", again, its going way too far. It's flaming the hatred of extremists in their party. Of course, Beck and Rush and others aren't guilty of murder, but they are guilty of spreading hate and fear.

As figure heads in the media they have a responsibility to mitigate their destructive ideas as to not cause violence. They realize they are in a position to cause a great deal of panic and take advantage of the fact. I have yet to hear one of these conservative assholes denounce the inflammatory remarks made by their viewers. It's pathetic and I hold them at least mildly responsible for any violence that occurs as a direct result of their indiscretion.
 
It was Michelle Bachmann's anti-census "let them come and i'll show them a thing or two" crowd.

We'll find out after the investigation though what the true causes are... but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if it was this anti-census crowd who threatened to do things.

The census is supposed to count every person, no matter where they live or who they are. If they're living in rural areas or dangerous neighborhoods, they still need to be counted.

And yes I said politically neutral, which I define here as being different than politically benign.

But the Census asks me personal information, information that goes to places I don't know about and it can be used by people I don't trust, so I don't want to take it and since they're forcing me to take it with the the penalty of $5,000 fine, this is fascism yadayada.

I can see how they might be upset that their forced to take a census, but seriously, its just a census. Fox News walked up to people and asked them questions from it on the street and nobody had any problem answering them. Why the big deal over this? It's purely stemmed from the distrust of the current government (who, unlike the Bush administration, has done nothing to earn this level of distrust.) and its egged on by hardcore conservatives like Bachmann, Beck, Savage and who knows who else.

their objection to the census is that it asks more questions that what is in the constitution: "how many people live in your household" ...they dont like the federal government asking other questions .....no really this is why they are up in arms. because the governemnt dares ask questions about income, race etc ..they're big brother fearing lunatics who are easily excitedable so long as the issue fits ones of their talking points. otherwise they have no opinion whatsoever. the census worker was hanged because he worked for the federal government. he's what the sept 12th protests were about. this is nothing more than a case of scare mongering lunatics misinforming the insane and idiotic masses with half truths and outright lies and this man paid for their idiocy with his life

I don't want the Fed to know too much about me. History is full of examples where a people became complacent and the government took advantage of them. That is what they fear, and they have good reason to fear it.

I sometimes feel like I am one of the few rational Americans left. And the far right is no less idiotic than the far left. Bot have their heads so far up their own asses they think that's all their is. Obama is more Socialist that we American tend to go for... granted he is no where near as socialist as Canada or Britain but lots of people are afraid that it will just get worse.

HAHA! I would as why we tolerate the liberal stupidity. The answer is the same for both questions. We have freedom of speech and as long as one is shouting the other will try to match volume. The harder one pushes the more the other pushes back. All this is doing is polarizing political opinion into two equally destructive philosophies. Both are full of shit.

This I agree with it. Fox news is simply a tool for the prorogation of right wing thinking and since they lost the election they've unleashed the attack hounds on Obama to the point where in they long ago crossed the line of acceptable.

The UK isn't remotely socialist. You need to adjust you thinking there. We are an extremely capitalist society. Sure we have the national health system, but trust me that is an absolute blessing (and no we don't have death camps).

I'm kind of surprised that there doesn't exist some kind of broadcast watchdog in the US that can take companies and shows to task over misrepresentation of the facts. Here in the UK none of the UK channels (not even the ones Murdoch owns) could get away with the shit Fox News does without suffering serious financial and political blowback.

There is no moment in history when a government took census data and used it to oppress its citizens.

Census data is immensely useful in about a billion obvious ways. You don't think the government has safeguards and policies about searching for specific people in the census database? You have nothing to fear ffs.
