For the first time ever, the United States Government is going to declare that a sovereign country's military is a terrorist organization. Iran's Revolutionary Guard, including the elite Quds force, will soon become a "specially designated global terrorist". The proposal was pushed by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, in an apparent effort to pressure the U.N. Security Council while simultaneously pacifying hawks in the administration. Unsurprisingly, The New York Times reports that Dick Cheney's aides have been pushing for military options in Iran.

So are you in favour of military intervention or not? I'm not entirely clear what your stance is on the matter.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but on one hand, you appear to condemn the previous meddling of the USA in Iran, but then on the other hand it appears you support further meddling in the future, as if to correct the previous ones. On the face of it, that seems to me to mean "two wrongs make a right".

To Kirovman, I'm not sure myself to be honest. But I would like it to "fixed" somehow, the ayatollahs and all their cronies have got to go. One way or the other. I mean I still have family there, just my aunt is left though, her sons are in Canada now. I don't know but this charade has gone on long enough.

You are under the impression that I don't know anything about the situation in the Middle East or "that I talk out of my ass", but it is in fact the contrary. I just think that we have entirely different opinions on the matter.

Why do you think an American intervention would help? As Iraq proves, invading a country and imposing a new government doesn't "fix" things. It only makes matters worse. I won't say that the Iraqis were better off under Saddam -because they weren't- but their current situation isn't very peachy either.
 
I'm sorry Shaker, I behaved like an ass. I just had a bad morning and I took out it here. Plus I get defensive about this stuff.

And I don't know what's the best solution for Iran but they can't just let it rot like this. The people don't deserve this, although they did ask for Khomeini, but still I don't think they really knew what it meant because they were partly manipulated and stupid enough to think that an Islamic state would be better than the Shah's government. I just hate the mollahs and ayatollahs so much I'd rather see them dead more than anything.

Plus all this nuclear nonsense has triggered the prelude to an arms race in the middle east. Egypt is asking why not us too? others are gonna follow in the years to come. Israel probably already has plans to bomb the shit out of the Iranian plants, who knows how they'll react to when other countries openly announce nuclear ambitions. It's all grim.

And in my mind there's no way this stuff will go away peacefully, it's been too long now and there's no chance in hell change will happen from the inside without foreign intervention. What are the Iranian people going to do? it's not like they can rise up and take down the government. The mollahs have to much at stake here, and they know it. Some of them have dual nationalities by the way, mostly canadian passports and homes in canada for when the shit hits the fan; they're ready to bail instantly.
 
Are we as a society just going to sit back and let this happen? **** that. We have to do something. If we don't, we will be living in city 17 with no freedoms what so ever.
 
I believe the US military has a lot of plans of action for various scenarios, including a plan to take London in case the UK government was replaced by a bunch of trigger happy commie-nazi-pinkos (what, you mean they aren't already?). It doesn't mean those plans will be put into action.

Although there's a significantly higher chance of this plan being put into action, I don't see the existence of such a plan as "News".

Nuke the **** out of the entire middle east till its one big crater on the map so we can spend time on improving humanity overall instead of wasting time in fear. When i think about it, nuke the **** out of north korea...and russia and africa and south america and china....till only the western powers are left...

How long has this crap been going on (don't answer that), when is someone going to make a ****in move and just get it going already (WWIII) I'm tired of waiting already. Are we gonna do it with every third world country that has nuclear weapons? Jesus, where does it end? After Iran, you have Syria, then Jordan, then Egypt, then the Sudan, and god knows where else. If we start down the path of taking out anyone with nuclear weapons, then we're in for a very long and costly war. (WW III)

Run away from the problem rather than encounter it. That is not the foundation on which the patriots founded this country. Regardless of how shitty this nation has become, we must realize that it can be great again. Are you going to let the powers that be destroy the image that you have of America as it was founded. This is a country of free people, where man is unabridged in finding his way to happiness. But when you let your government decide that you can no longer be happy; that you must live in a state of fear dictated by the next terrorist attack; that my friend is when we stand with one voice and show that the government should fear the people, rather than the people fearing the government.

I can't tell whether you're coming from a very liberal or a very nationalistic standpoint, but regardless: I'm sure that many people would rather move to a country that already doesn't suck, rather than spend a lifetime attempting to push against the flow of public opinion in order to rebuild a soon-to-be-broken country, all for the next generation to be able to enjoy instead of us. And that happening is not even close to being guaranteed.

Which is, by the way, a seceeded conglomerate of European colonies.
