With all the debate about a public healthcare option going on now, PBS has an interview with a man named Wendell Potter, who as worked in the healthcare industry for 20 years. In the interview they go into why he was in his job and what made him quit and become a critic of the healthcare industry. He gives a lot of great insight into how the insurance industry operates and just how readily they influence public policy. A lot of the information might be redundant for a lot of you, however it is a very interesting interview nonetheless. It clocks in at a full 37 minutes, but it is a very interesting 37 minutes.

Thanks staticprimer! Watching it now.

I need to stop paying attention to American politics. It's not good for my blood pressure.

The thing is, healthcare reform in the U.S is important to me because even though I'm an Australian and I live in Melbourne, I have dual citizenship and half of my family lives in the U.S. Half of my family that I haven't been able to see for ten years because I have a pre-existing condition that is so hard to get insurance for, I haven't been able to find any insurance company willing to cover me while I'm in the U.S.

Anyone who honestly believes the healthcare in the U.S is fine, is either brainwashed by these organizations or flat-out stupid.
