My usb wont work. IM using win2000 i have tried everything . So i have no mouse :( . The optical mouse glows and all...but i get no cursor or mouse in windows2k. I have dloaded sp4 and everytime i try to install the drivers from my mobo-disk it sais failure. WEird.

i love xp, just plug and go, dont even need drivers, good ol xp makes everything work. just like windex cleans everything. no im not greek.

i dont kown what ot say, i have xp, i bought a usb2 pci card, put my microsfot 5button optical in and walla, it works, then ifelt like adding the upgraded driver softwares. 4.1 its at now.

so i recommned u get new OS or use the ps/2 connector not the usb one. toodles

ohh ya, if the red light is on, then ur mouse is connected. if its off its not. so are u connecting both the ps/2 and the usb at the same time? lol that would be funny

Like he said...if the light is on, it's connected and should work with the right drivers.
Why not just use the PS2 connection?

I'm certainly no expert with hardware as has become painfully obvious in another thread ;) But my USB drawing tablet is similar when I first install the drivers for that, the light would come on, it would appear to work but nothing doing and it wouldn't be recognised for what it was. I'd unplug it from the USB hub, switch off the power to that (separate power source cause I've got a few USB things running at once and the PC wasn't giving them all enough to run stable) switch that back on, plug it back in and then it would recognise it and install and run correctly, win2k.

I dunno, might help?

Its best not to use a hub if you can get away from it.
Although a powered hub is better than not.

Powered hubs are a must for Scanners, printers and heavy powered devices.

A friend of mine has a camera and it would not work with his PC at all.
It was pluged into a hub but as soon as he plugged it into the USB on the back of his PC, it worked.

opposite way around for me, the tablet was a jittery mess until I got the hub with its own power supply, really taken a load off for all the different USB devices and also seems to have improved the stability of the hardware dongles used on programs like Lightwave where you need them there to run the programs atall. Scanner seems to appreciate it too, that would sometimes choke before the hub.

well i have tried everything i can.
It just wont work. I even got sp1 and sp4 still nothing.

O well i might have to get a different mobo or something.

Subz i don't know what to tell ya on this.. but i can say i understand what ur going through..

i had a problem with my old Intelli Mouse.. i was using the usb port, drivers installed and everything.. then one day it went haywire on me and stopped working.. i tried it using the ps2 port and it worked fine..

eventually i got a new mouse (Logitech MX500 :) ) and first tried it on the usb port.. nothing, wouldn't work at all.. XP would not even detect a mouse!

so i just installed it as a ps/2 mouse.. this used to happen on my old motherboard as well when using the usb ports.. anyway its my personal belief that the tech of usb ports has not been perfected yet.. and thats why some pple have some annoying experiences with them.. :|
