I have USB 2.0 but everytime I plug in a USB device it comes up in one of those pale yellow boxes saying...

Hi-Speed USB Device Plugged into non-Hi Speed USB Hub

...but I'm 90% sure mine are 2.0 drives.

Anyway I can check they are?

Do I need drivers? How do I make them go "Hi-Speed"?

Thanks.

Are you sure your mobo ( motherboard ) supports USB 2.0? And if you happen to use Windows XP you need Service Pack 1 or 2 installed to get USB2.0 support.

If you don't have windows XP you need to install the drivers.
If you do have XP, make sure that the USB ports are actually 2.0 and not 1.1.

I have XP, SP1.

How can I tell if they are 2.0/1.1?

Whats your motherboard? It's not in your sig.

I'm not sure if SP1 came with usb2.0 drivers, I know 100% SP2 did. I know if you try and install the usb2.0 drivers for my nforce4 motherboard with my nforce4 cd's it comes up saying "You have Service Pack 2 which comes with Usb 2.0 drivers" or something like that.

It's a "ECS RS480-M".

Thats all I really know. :(

You probably have 1.1 USB ports on your mobo. You can get an add-in card with USB 2 ports. It may not really be a problem, though, I've used external drives on 1.1 to play movies and had no issues...

The board should have USB2.0 support. Don't have all the USB drivers installed for your board? Using front ports on a case that doesn't support USB 2.0?
