Use DVD-Image instead of original Disc ? Is it Possible ?

Hi all, first off i want to make it clear that i have an original copy of
halflife , i bought it, registered it to my steam account and all that.

But (yeah, there is a but) , it's the dvd version and my game pc does not have a dvd drive :/ my server had a DVD writer so i used it too make an image with Alcohol and then mounted it on my Gamepc. But halflife detects the use of emulation software :(

Is there a way to get this working ? Ripping my dvd writer out of my server isn't a real option cause it's used on that machine very often :/

If someone wants me to proof i bought it i'm more then willing to proof it somehow (pictures)..

I just need to be able to mount the image and play :/

or you can wait for alcohol to come out with their new version that will include hl2 in their database.

But I think you should get a cheaop DVD drive. I think it's about time.

you can install off a image but with current software it is impossible to use an image to run the game

I think the disc-checking is a Vivendi thing. It seems to me Valve wanted nothing to do with CDs or retail or anything. I hope in the upcoming necessary Patch That Will Fix All Things, we'll be rewarded by not having to be checked by both Steam and our CD/DVD drives.
