Using Keyboard and Mouse on PS3

I just bought COD4 for the PS3 instead of the computer because I've got a 40" HDTV with 1080p and I think I'd enjoy the game much more on that then on a 19" standard CRT monitor. however, I wanna use a mouse and keyboard as its much easier to aim and move with. The ps3 accepts usb ports as controllers, so do i just plug in a standard keyboard and mouse and it works?

I don't believe CoD4 supports keyboard and mouse. UT3 does, however some servers block this as an option.
