I'm ecstatic, guys. I got my SAT score report this morning - first time taking it, with no preparation, I got 760 on both Math and Reading, so that's a 1520 out of 1600 total possible.

I'm absolutely shocked, but VERY pleasantly so.

How'd you all do on the SATs, if you took them? (For those who don't know, if you're not American, it's a massive standardized test that is required for most college admissions in the US)

I took them to get into a course. I can't remember my exact result but I apparently got better than 92% of Americans who did it the previous year, in maths.

Explain this to those who don't live in your countries and/or have never heard of it before, please?

I don't understand but sounds like great results so congrats!

12/13 year olds do the American SATs in Ireland...what does it all mean....

hehe exactly. 12/13 year olds take part in a test called SATS in lower high school here in the UK. I thought for a minute Ennui was a 12/13 year old :P

Well hobbits do have the height of roughly 12/13 year olds :) Much love Chris, muchos!

is it a different test then or are the SATs the same everywhere?
surely American 16, 17 and 18 year olds are not sitting the same test as a British/Irish 12 year old?!?

Where the hell did you manage to take the old version of the SATs still? Although I heard parts of the south still weren't using the new SATs. I suppose they're just behind on everything. It's been a few years now in Massachusetts that the new one has been around.

Anyways, I got a 2110 out of 2400 on my third and final try. I got a 1650 on PSATs two years ago, then a 1690 on my first SAT try.

I say someone scans a mock SAT test, then someone from the UK scans some UK tests and compares which one is the hardest.

Well America sucks. So the obvious answer is the UK. Go UK!

I think I did pretty well...but it was some time ago.

Must be different SATs. :E

The American version would be easier. I haven't taken the SAT yet so I should be getting around to it soon here.

I heard the SAT's in America are multiple choice questions? Truthism or fakism?

Ugh. I did... well, I did well, but not by my standards. I got a 2050- 710 in writing, 700 in reading, 640 in math. Which is very good, but I got a 2190 on the PSATs... with a perfect score in writing. So I think I'm gonna take them again.

I was wrong before. I actualy did slightly worse than I thought.
I got 570 on Verbal, 650 on Maths; 1220 overall. But I was 14 at the time as opposed to most people taking the test who would be going to collage.

I never took the SAT. I only needed the ACT and got a 29 (I was kinda disappointed but that's what I get for staying out all night before the test :P)

In sweden we also have a massive standardazied test that can be used to get into universities instead of your high school grades, called Högskoleprovet. I took it and got 1.1 out of a possible 2.0 (76 out of 126). That is VERY good for someone who takes it the first time (those who take it the first time should not really expect to get 1.0 or above).

bah only real men/women do the Leaving Cert/A levels/Abitur/Baccalaureate etc.

I just didn't put the writing score up there because most colleges don't give a shit. I got 680 on the writing section, so that's what, 2200 total? 760 + 760 + 680

The last time I took an SAT, I got... about 680, 710, and 740, totalling 2130. I would say the 680 was for writing.

The new essay portion sucks. I cannot write a good essay on a topic I've never seen before in 20 minutes at 8 in the morning.

I got a 2260 on mine.
800 writing
750 reading
710 math

I'm pretty happy with that, but it wasn't enough to balance out my low GPA college-wise. So, I'm going to my second choice, William and Mary, rather than University of Virginia.

I made a 21 on the ACT in 7th grade.

Also, I was expecting udder jokes.

Are SAT preparation classes actually worth it?

I got a 2210/2400 on my second PSAT. I think I might be able to get a perfect score when I actually take the test.

I missed a total of 3 questions on the PSAT; don't be too cocky :E

Do you only have the SATs to get into college? Then, awesomely good for you.

*goes and cries in corner*

A friend of mine got a 2350 in SAT and a perfect score in TOEFL. Got into Cornell :)
Me, I'm not going to America unless I have to.

Can't remember the exact scores. I do recall being in the 98th percentile for Verbal and being strictily average for Math (even though that should have been far lower, since I'm a complete mathematical moron).

Why are they marked out of 1600? How many questions are there!?
