validating steam files - 30 minutes of waiting

Starting yesterday, every time I launch hl2 I get a "validating steam files window" It take 30-40 minutes to "validate". That means each time I want to play, I wait 30-40 minutes...yikes. Anyone else experiencing this?

Try starting hl2 not being on the net you should get a steam window come up asking if you want to start steam off line. If that does not work try taking hl2 off your hard drive and start again. Not saying this is the answer just trying to give you some ideas.

Same problem. Everyone fill out a form at steampowered.com and hopefully we can get this fixed soon.
