When the hell are companies like Valve going to quit promising / comitting to release dates they can't meet. I mean what the hell, this has been a growing trend over the years and all it does is really piss people off.

Even Gabe committed the Sep 30 just 1-2 months ago...

Yep... I believe so, that is what pisses me off.

When people quit buying software from these types of companies then they will wake up and quit misleasding us and missing dates...

But you know that will never happen, thats the part that sucks.

its not the fact they cant commit to the date, its the fact that they lied about it, or for that matter made no annoucements. i really dont mind hl2 being pushed back a little, i can wait, but when noone informs their fans about what is going on it cooks my chicken! (see ctrl+alt+del web comic) why couldnt they have just said that it would be pushed back when they knew it? or made an annoucement last week? they cant just wait til the day everyone was expecting and go "ahha, just kidding, its gonna be out later" hell, even that would have been acceptable if it hadent already happened with them a few times. i hate to admit it, but im gonna start losing confidence in hl2 for fear it may take the path to the dark side aka TF2. if we dont hear an offical statement in the next few days......

We haven't heard Valve's reasons yet and already too many people have lost all faith in them (forgetting that the game is still in development and will STILL be superb)

You DO realize that this IS a discussion board, right? The HL2 delay and previous circle jerking about it IS the latest news, so you should expect to see a lot of discussion about it. There isn't much else to speak of in the way of HL2, correct??

What really pisses me off is they way Valve came out and said, "This is half life 2, it will be out sept 30." Not "sept", not "fall", not "xmas", not "when it's done", but a big, line in the sand, "SEPTEMBER 30".

Whenever you read a first preview, you usually get a rough estimate within the nearest month, which you never pay attention to, because you know it's going to slip, but valve were SO sure; that's what makes this so dissapointing.

Half Life 2 is now just another one of those cool PC games that's coming out sometime, soon, whenever.
