what do you think guys? I was just looking at the screens of the new bink video and it looks to me like the e3 vids that blew us away had hardly any of the detail we're gonna see in the final run.

We keep getting pics from valve but they always have faults or things to grumble about (missing reflections etc) but actually, from what I've seen here of the new bink most of the stuff in e3'04 binks were mere placeholders compared to the glorious graphics we're gonna get when it's released.

VALVE ARE AMAZING.

Even though I do love Valve with all my heart.. We have had enough of these.

You talking about the 2003 E3 binks or the 2004 E3 binks? If it's the 2004 E3 Binks give us a link to d/l them :)

They aren't spending the same time on CS:S as they did on HL2.

Anyway's its "Valve is amazing." Even though Valve is made up of people, the company is one entity. That means it is singular, not plural.
 
It's not! You can use either singular or plural verbs when referring to collective nouns, as long as you remain consistent. You screwed-up Americans are fouling on the English language!

It was a typo, not a syntax problem...

I'm pretty sure he meant "VALVES ARE AMAZING".
And really... who can argue with that??

Seriously, this is a free online forum for fans of a video game. The average member age is probably 17. Why even bother to try and correct anyone's English.


btw, I came across a lot of invasive chest surgury photos finding those^. Eww.
Edit: And I don't mean to infer that all 17-year-olds are idiots. (Some of them might not be). I'm saying that pretty much no-one here cares.

the entire game will be different.. more cool and strange.. different locations..
city 17 is just a city to show halflife on E3 & stuff...

well.. i hope it is so.. it would be cool!
 
In England, they DO treat singular nouns that represent more than one object (like crowd) as plural nouns grammatically. For example, they will say "The crowd are getting restless!" and whatnot. In America, we do the same thing sometimes, but that situation is rare. We say "People are," the word people representing a group of individuals. (People is a singular noun, the plural form of "person" is "persons.") There, an English lesson :p

On-Topic: I don't want to waste my time praising VALVe until after Half-Life 2 is released. That way if they somehow manage to screw the game up, I won't look like an idiot when I change my opinion. But of course, they WON'T screw it up, right? How could anyone mess up an idea THIS great! *looks in iD's direction*
