Hey Guys,
this is a minor Problem, but still annoying. When i start Half-Life2 I can hear teh sound where normally the Valve Logo sould appear. I'm using the german version, yo the translation might be a bit different: Video cannot be played - Decompresser not found : "vids:cvid". Annyone having the same problem?

Thanks

Hey,

I´ve got the same problem.

Using the german version, too ;)

(Ich hab´keine Ahnung, woran das liegt)

Seems to be due to a missing or corrupted codec which normally is included in Windows XP, but I do not know how to reinstall this one, copying the specific dll into system32 is not sufficient and the codec packs I found do not work as well, as they are not designed for WinXP. Do you have the WMP10 installed?

Yes, I just got WMP updated last week, got all common codecs installed.
Anyone with ideas?

Consider yourself lucky.

Who wants to see that shit anyway?
****, I wish EA had the same problem.

;)

try looking fora cvids codec? might help?

mine works ok sorry i cant help more...

I would be lucky if there would be nothing to see, but this ugly lines and still the sound with this error-message makes me sad...

I've the same problem on my Win2K3.
Not that big a problem, but it would indeed be nice should I get it to work.

Ok i figured it out,
at last it was no big deal (though - i deleted most of the codecs installed on my PC).

You only have to do the following:
You need the iccvid.dll file - perhaps you got in on your computer somewhere, copy it into Windows\system32, if it ist not already there

Then open your registry, navigate to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32

and add the following string value

"vidc.cvid" = "iccvid.dll"

Thats how I fixed it, luckily...
