Valve to release information at E3 2k4

Also, "Valve does not plan to reveal any additional information until the time surrounding the E3 trade show" in May.

What could it be? Seems to be a high chance of HL2 coming out this summer to me.

Yeah what is this, we've barely heard ANYTHING from valve and where is this sdk they promised 6 weeks ago. They said 6 weeks ago the sdk was coming out "very soon" like in a matter of weeks. Where is it?

The games supposedly coming out in a couple months (summer time), yet we have not a single detail on multiplayer, and very few responses from valve. I can't belive valve is leaving us in the dark like this, it's ridiculous.

I think valve owes us some screenshots or videos. We've been waiting through their delays and missed promises. We've pulled our end by hanging around even though they delayed the game for like a year, now show me some half life 2 valve!
 
i must admit i'm torn for between praising valve for keeping nealy all aspects of the game so locked down tight and not spoling it for me, and wanting to smack the lot of them for being so goddamn evasive.
 
Zeus, first of all, they didn't PROMISE that the SDK would be coming out. They said "within a few weeks." But they did not promise. Maybe something came up, putting the schedule back, hence the summer target. Second, HELLO AND WELCOME TO A MONTH AGO.
 
valve owes us shit. let them do wut they want u cant stop em and bad mouthing them doesnt do shit except make u look like an asshole. there are reasons for the delays and well get all the info we want in may. its not that long or hard to get through your head. and the silence about the multiplayer is fine, just as long as its new. there could be several reasons why this is kept seceret, for the anticapation and so another game dev doesnt steal their idea before thier game is out.
 
They know we will forgive them if they bring out a kick ass game where for once you have no clue (or very little) of what to expect from it.
Kinda nice to be blown away by a video game instead of beeing prepared by millions of video's and screenshots...it would have been so good if they made Sep. 30th
They announced it like what? 3 weeks before release? thats the way all game companies should do it.

If they take E3 to announce a new release date then im pleased enough, i don't need screenshots or new movies, i'll take the game instead.

What the hell are we supposed to talk about if we can't bag and criticsize Valve for everything??!!?

That's the only point of pre-release game communities. To place pressure on the company to motivate them to make the best damn game possible. The creation of computer games is probably the most complex, ball tearing form of art in the history of mankind, love and smiles have no place around here until we are given a good game.

That's the nature of the beast.
 
lol Valve expressly said they weren't going to say anything about the HL2 multiplayer because they wanted it to be a surprise :p.

Also the GDC is in march with the HL2 Modelling Videos, so the comment is a direct lie.
 
The problem really lies in that Valve doesn't have their own site & forums. If they did then who ever would run that site & forums would know exactly what we are thinking. They do have the steam forums which go everywhich direction. If they really truely knew what we thought, this wouldn't happen. Then again maybe they do. I seem to know a lot of people who would rather wait it out than get info. Kind of makes me mad at them.

I want a cheap lil demo. That's all. Just a room full of stuff and a manipulator gun. It's actually weired that they showed that gun in the E3 stuff. They keep all this other stuff secret but the coolest thing I can think of, They show. Does that mean they have better stuff than the manipulator ? IF so ... bring it on..it's about time
 
I reckon they'll release HL2 in april, and in may they will introduce Team Fortress 2 at the E3, which will be released with HL3 at christmas 2004. Oh yeah, they'll discuss about the HalfLife Movie too.

When valve say "very soon" they actualy mean Months and months from now.

And they gave us a game... Half-Life. Transaction ended, at least monetarily.
 
I think they owe us a little tech demo at least. Like I've said before we have pulled our end by waiting through delays and valve leaving us in the dark for MONTHS now. I think it's valves turn to pull their end a little bit. Now I know half life2 will rock, if I didn't I wouldn't be here, typing this right now, but the point is it's just wrong for them to leave us in the dark for months and months on end with absolutly no new information, no new screenshots, movies, demos, whatever.

The point is that we need information and we need it now, valve loses another fan every day that they don't give us information during this long period of dark valve left us in. They have loyal fans who deserve this, I know I would love my fans to death if they waited through countless delays just to get my game, and I hope that's valve's attitude towards this situation too.

it's funny how people have amnesia, and/or are extremely unattentive. if you checked ANY news, you'd know that valve are shooting for a SUMMER release. april is not summer :LOL:

Hmm, Dougy my man. I have read many of your posts and alot of them seem to have an angry tone towards Valve. I'm just wondering, Is life going ok for you? I only ask because I am a caring member of the community ;)

Hmm... I take it back I re-read his post it makes sense now.
 
There is a saying which is similar to the one below:

"It take months to find a client, seconds to lose one" (I believe what Valve is doing can be thought as the reverse of that saying)
"It takes seconds to make a fan, months for them to lose interest"

Its also bad business to hide away or shroud themselves from clients, let alone potential clients. My Dad has got an MBA, so I could ask him why this is happening, and then give you information on the tactics that Valve are playing.

Also they dont owe us anything a nice treat would be a few new screen shots or demo.Though this is tempered by the fact that the more time Valve spend perfecting the game the better it has to be.But then I come back to the wanting of any info on how the game is progressing and what its like to play.However if they release a demo which is badly recieved by the community as being half-assed and quickly put together they might just make things worse.(Something tells me we are all stuck in a loop here so please lets just continue cleaning our keyboards and mice until that day comes instead of speculateing on the impossible)

It's not their fault. It's yours for being stupid enough to think it would be released then. Repeat after me: "September at the earliest."
 
Why do you people keep saying "The more time they worked on it, the more perfect it will be."??? You dont get it do you, they ****ed up. They wouldev never got HL2 out on time, they were only about 60% done with the game by the time Sept 30 came. They got lucky that they had been hacked. They used that as an excuse to push the release date back so that no fingers were directly pointed at them
 
Wow Plague, you must work at Valve with all the facts about the delays you stated.
 
Once again, Valve never said the hacker delayed the game... in fact, they said the opposite.
 
Ohh, what-the-****-ever!!! They can changed what they said early on but it makes no ****ing diffrence. It comes down to the simple fact that valve ****ed up, thats all im saying....ohh and that vivendi didnt help matters much either.
 
How did valve mess up? The release date was wrong? I don't think that will affect the outcome of the game...
