All of us have probably noticed that http://www.cheat-network.net has been down for several weeks. Just recently it has been brought back up with a message from its webmaster to the cheating community asking for help in fighting Vavle in a legal battle according to the websites message.

According to what the message says, Vavle has taken legal action against him for running CN and he needs monitary support from the community to hire a lawyer if the site is to live on.

Although I do not know if this is a 'ploy' to make a bit of cash, or a real legal matter, I think it would be good for everyone to go read his message on CN and help in anyway you can. Even if that help is simply e-mailing him in support for keeping the site running.

On a personal note, is it possible for a gaming company to take legal action against a hack site such as CN or even PM god forbid? I don't see what legal action they could take as a result of the websites content.

(this was posted on a site that I would rather not spread around)

DONT GIVE THESE GUYS MONEY. I do not in any way support this site and or cheating.

wait...you want us to help him? You really want us to help a guy that has created all these cheaters? If Valve is taking legal action, then you can be sure they have a good reason for it.

Why would we want to support them? THEY RUIN GAMES.

Wait...

It's a site dedicated to cheating? Why would I bother to help them? Am I missing something?

If they had anything to do with cheating in MP games I say good riddance.

Edit: Ah, now I get it. You may want to actually use quote tags in your post so it is easier to understand.

So is that part of the message on the site? It doesn't make sense if it is...

Edit: Nevermind i misunderstood...

I actually, think this was a rather good idea. Finally clueless cheat hosts get it owned.

its a good idea because i dont like cheating.

cheating is just plain wrong, mostley because it ruins other peoples experiances in the same mp game who are playing it straight, and thats no fun, especially for noobs , very frustrating in CoD , when someone has an aimbot,

the other day this dude admitted to using an aimbot,, it was ridiculous, every shot locks in on your head.

For me personally. I would never cheat at an FPS game. What's the point? It takes away the fun and challange for some sort of useless internet bragging right. It's extremely annoying and should be heartily discouraged.

Still, there are bigger issues at stake. I think I site like CH has every right to do what they do. Censoring internet sites ALWAYS leaves a foul taste in my mouth. For me it's a freedom of speech issue.

Hope he gets sued. Him, the Rage Xtreme and the Metacheat group all deserve death!

Bwahaaaha! Look at how many people have donated. I hope they utterly fail in their legal battles.

Hope they give them the electric chair :D (NOT VALVE)

Come on - I would have thought that at least 70% of all game players cheat in some capacity whether it be SP or MP (SP the most, just to get past a hard bit when you become frustrated at being killed for the 40th time). However, when it comes to MP it is morally wrong - I wouldn't have thought it to be criminally wrong. The only thing I think VALVe are suing them for (if they really are being sued) is reverse engineering and copyright infringment maybe, which would be criminally wrong.

I've never even HEARD of cn.net, I've heard of ce.de, but not .net

I call shenanigans

I really don't see a big problem with SP cheating. Its your choice if you choose to cheat or not. But for MP, cheating should be forbidden.

Am I the only one who is bothered by this? I hate cheating as much as the next guy...but really this is a free speech issue for me. You should be able to say whatever you want on the internet.

I suspect most people don't care about SP cheating, I always beat a game and then go back through using cheats just for the hell of it.

"HA! Don't you see your bullets just bounce off of me you pathetic Black-ops agents?"
or
"Bet you didn't think I could fly did you mr headcrab?"

MP cheating on the other hand is completely different.

This is most certainly a fraud. cheat-network.net is NOT cheat-network.de. .de is the site that normally has all the cheats, and, surprise, it's still up

On the other hand, it appears to have had cheats mirrored (wayback machined it), I dunno. Seems a little odd to me

I don't think Valve is trying to completely remove the site, they are just trying to get them to stop distributing cheats that will affect Valve games.

EDIT: And then there is also what Shuzer said.

i hate cheaters with a passion. i love catching cheaters on my server and slaying them and making their experience horrible, just before i ban them. although i havent seen many obvious hackers in quite some time. we keep our server asshole and hacker free, over 330 bans.

that's pretty awsome, btw is this a clan server?

well if Valve is taking legal action against a site that promotes MP cheating, then good for Valve!!
i hope Valve can go after that other site Shuzer is talking about as well...it would really clean up the majority of MP play this way.

VALVe helps the gaming community in everyway! 1st HL, then CS, then Alyx Vance, now this!! i salute you! :salute:

... we should have a saluting smilely

thanks for telling everybody.. ;(

Makes me want to punch a hoe in the face when someone cheats.

MP cheaters should have a chair shoved under thier ass. By "chair" I mean "white hot steel poker" and by "under" I mean "up".

I personally never use cheats in either SP or MP. MP cheating is cheating others, and SP cheating is cheating yourself.

If you never use either of them you eventually get good enough to never need either of them.

This is great news and it will be a landmark case.

Points Valve will argue in court.

1.Cheaters must have cost Valve a lot of money over the years. Having to constantly put man hours into developing anti-cheat software would be costly and time consuming.

2. Cheating online is also a breach of the end user licencse agreement, something every cheater has "agreed" to before logging on to a VAC enabled server. A site supplying people with the means to break the rules they agreed to is guilty.

3. Cheaters destroy everyone elses fun. Valve work their asses off to create games and patches that people will enjoy. To have that ruined by cheaters would shiznat you off to the extreme.

Cheat-Network will argue that they only host the files and do not actually create them. Piss-weak argument and i hope they get sued for the millions of dollars they've cost Valve.

My gripe is this:

IT'S ABOUT BLOODY TIME!!!!

Thank you.

yeah like your ideas, there is no excuse for cheating in a mp game!

haha @ the amount of donations, they could probably get to the court room and that's about it

I'm just glad to see there's so many people willing to throw money at the "problem". Well done! Less funds towards buying spare game copies you cash squandering cheating bastards. Definitely a "landmark case"; here's hoping Valve sets a precedent allowing these arseholes to be disqualified from the net as a whole.

Pressure; stop abusing garden instruments. You're as bad as they are!

I would just like to wish Valve all the best and good luck in the court case, i hope no one is stupid enough to give money to these people who make life miserable for so many people.

It's not like it's hard to find.. a simple google search and you're there
Besides, I'm sure everyone here is decent enough not to go there and download cheats :)
