Hey all. I figured rather than putting images we find in single threads, why not put them all in one thread?

I think this is a good idea for a thread, but knowing the admins on this forum it will probably be closed.

Why? Theres nothing illegal about the thread, and it saves the 10/20 thread a day that pop up saying "check out this box!" or "retailer selling HL2 to people already!".
 
There is no Half Life 2 being sold early. Please, please, please explain how Valve could make this more clear. They have stated it over and over for you idiots and still you hold on to this pathetic thread of hope. Morons. :D

Very clever. Actually several people have bought copies of HL2.

is it just me, or does it look absolutly fake? The bottom of the box and the keys...looks photochopped :(
 
Not just you, that's exactly what I thought the second I looked at it.

The front of the box is a gatefold front, which shows that old ass pic of the combine in the streets in City17 arresting 3 or 4 civilians.

Anyhow, thats why theres no shadow or whatever because the gatefold is slightly open.
 
Either way, withthe UK getting a DVD only version for retail, we'll have one of those lovely little DVD film style boxes, so no need for us to worry about paper sleeves.

Munro will be pissed then.. he's only buying it retail for the box, when he finds out its just one of those pissy DVD type boxes he's gonna wish he just stuck with the one he already has :p

Yeah, us Europeans will get a normal crappy plastic DVD case. Those folded cardboard ones look cool!
 
They shrink wrapped that display box to stop Best Buy employee’s from messing with it in the warehouse
 
Man, even the Standard Retail uses paper sleeves for the CDs. How cheap. I wonder if the CE will be any different. And the artwork printed on the CDs doesn't look too good, either. The labels made by HL2 fans look better.
 
in the first post, whos the guy whos go to cds?..is that the guy who made the thread?..

OT Reply: Yes, kinda. I found all of the frames for the avatar in my SteamApps folder once. They aren't there now :eek: But i just put all of the frames together and made it an animation.
 
They question that bugs me is: will VALVe keep their promise and activate early since the date has been broken?
 
However, to be clear a few random copies showing up because someone has a friend in the stock room or something like that isnt really something I would expect Valve to take the risk on. When someone shows up with pictures of dozens of copies of Half-Life 2 boxes on display and being purchased.. then something may happen. Also keep in mind that Valve is able to detect when someone attempts to activate Half-Life 2 over Steam, so it's not like they wont know if 30 copies are sold one day in Oregon. So if something like that happens, I suspect we'll all know about it.

No, they shrinkwrapped it so that they could move the palette with a forklift.
 
Yeah, I read the Email that someone got from Erik of VALVe. He asked where he got his copy from. It's just like that: the street date is broken. On the other hand you can always say that it's not really broken b/c 5 copies were sold and the EB copies are all back. It's always a matter of how you argument on it...

I just hope. It's a good weekend to start playing :)
